57th Grammy Awards: The looks that made us go wow
Standout looks that made red carpet statements
The Grammys are one-of-a-kind awards! Originally called Gramophone Awards, the Grammy, is an accolade by the US based National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) that recognizes outstanding achievement in the music industry. This year—like every year gone by—the Grammies were enchanting and thrilling because they set the style trends for the year. The 57th Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles had the who’s who of the entertainment industry flaunting their groovy selves. Entertainment, music and fashion blended harmoniously to give us a night to remember. Let’s take a tour down the red carpet with our fab list from the Grammys ! From purple hair, and cupcake dresses to matador hats and a gold-plated dressing gown, leave it to Rihanna, Madonna and Kim Kardashian to make some serious red carpet style statements.
Jessie J flew the flag for British couture in this vamped-up black, long-trailed sheer dress byRalph and Russo. She went with dark, berry lips which made her look all the more flawless. We love the slick hair and ear cuff effort too.
Can Taylor Swift get more dreamy!? Well, yes she can. One of the best looks on the carpet, she stunned in an aquamarine, ombre Elie Saab dress with matching baubles and went all out in fuchsia Guiseppe Zanotti heels. This was Ms Swift’s way of paying homage to SS15’s mermaid trend; the cool cutwork and mini vs maxi skirt concept make the look stand apart from the countless fishtail frocks that have dotted the red carpet this year.
We simply love everything about Katy Perry’s red carpet look! Right from her purple messy bob and shimmery eye-makeup to her strappy Sophia Webster heels. She donned a Zuhair Murad sheath dress fresh from the runway. The embellished, crystal fringes had us drooling over the outfit!
The Australian rapper’s bold, cobalt blue Armani Prive strappy dress was lovely! The color looks fresh on blond Iggy. Plus the detailing on the bodice and gown was quite stirring. We also totally dig the braided hairdo!
Beyoncé was red-carpet perfection. She descended on the scene in a black Proenza Schouler gown with a plunging neckline, complete with a delicate trail and beads. She let her hair trail down in loose waves, exuding allure. Look closer to truly appreciate the exquisite embellishments on the sheer black lace creation.
Jane Fonda revealed her quirky side in an emerald green striped Balmain jumpsuit and a stunning, tasseled golden neckpiece. We can’t but admire this 60+ actress’ lithe and lean figure.
Trendsetting Niki Minaj strutted the red carpet in a figure-hugging, deep necked Tom Ford creation consisting of a sparkly fringed bottom half that showed off her hourglass figure to perfection. She looked ravishing despite minimalistic makeup and a simple hairdo.
Metallic ensembles are truly ruling the red carpet this awards season! Rita Ora totally rocked a silver sequined floor length dress with smoldering smoky eyes. A shout out to her new pixie haircut! We like this low maintenance look very much!
Ciara ruffled it up in Alexandre Vauthier Couture dress! She wasn’t shy of showing off her Perfect, super toned legs in a pair of beautiful black pumps. Hair pulled back, matte makeup and smoky eyes completed her look
Lady Gaga flaunted a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit in a silver, embellished
Brandon Maxwell gown. This time sporting a silver mane, OTT eyes and emerald hued Lorraine Shwartz jewels. After all, it’s Lady Gaga, we wouldn’t expect any less.
Suits and the gals
Kudos to these ladies who suited up! We like Jenny Lewis in a funky, printed Aritzia rainbow tie-dye blazer and tinted sunnies. Anna Kendrick rocked a super chic Band of Outsiders black V-neck pantsuit. Meanwhile Charli Xcx looked dashing in a dapper Moschino tux. Kudos to the bright pink bow-tie!
Ra ra Rihana
The Barbados beauty’s dress was the most talked about at the event. The pop star waltzed in wearing what looked like a two tier pink wedding cake. Some even compared it to Scarlett O’Hara’s gown on steroids! Once inside though, the Diamonds singer oozed confidence as she posed nonstop and even twirled for the waiting paparazzi.
Maverick men on the red carpet!
In comparison the men looked tame and predictable. John Mayer, Nick Jonas, Chris Brown and
John Lennon (left to right) chose to play it safe in tuxedos or suits. However, clearly the best
dressed of the lot was John Mayer in a Brioni navy tux with contrasting black lapels that fit like a glove. The bow tie was an elegant yet unfussy touch, his glasses looked slick, and hair was well coiffed. All in all, a very put together look. We like!
