Dolly Tilani Bhatter
PR and especially entertainment PR is a field in which there are new challenges everyday and I love the fact that my profession keeps me on my toes. My day starts off without me knowing what will be served on the plate and the suspense of that makes my work very exciting. Damage control in the case of a negative story about your client is most stressful. It takes up a lot of my energy.
I do not go to spas very often except maybe once or twice in a year. However, I do like Sohum Spa in Mumbai. If I were to talk about the best spa then it would be in Bali that had some of the best spas. I find going in for a good pedicure as extremely de-stressing as well and and works as good as a full spa therapy.
The biggest thing that I find de-stressing is travelling or shopping. Spending time with the family, going out for films or just reading a good book are also quite de-stressing. For me distressing is all about pampering myself so whenever I want to distress I go with my mood and do whatever my heart feels like.
Dance Shoes Designer, Latin Dance Choreographer
It is most taxing when you know that you have to work for yourself. You have to constantly think and come up with new ideas by yourself and make your business work.
You do not have anyone to give you everything on a platter and have someone give you the instructions of what you have to do. I go in for massages occasionally. I go to the local parlour for a Thai foot massage or reflexology once in 2-3 weeks. The one I had experienced in Bangkok was perhaps the best so far. One of the best things that I find de-stressing is going to the circus. Occasionally, when the Rambo circus is on, I go to watch it. It is incredibly de-stressing.
Dr. Reshma Shriyan
Senior Physiotherapist at Breach Candy Hospital
My job includes the rehabilitation of intensive care patients in the ICU. I treat a lot of infected patients that makes my immunity go for a toss. All in all, there is a lot of physical and mental effort that goes into the treating of such patients.
The workload is always building and there are times that I have to work Sundays as well giving me no time for myself. I go in for hair spa therapies that are quite relaxing or for a foot reflexology once in a month which relieves me from the pain of long hours of standing. I hardly ever have the time to indulge in them as whatever free time I get I spend with my two year old.
There are two other things that I know I can always rely on. Food therapy – going out with an old friend for lunch and retail therapy – I’m a shopaholic.
Creative Head, Balaji Telefilms
Everything is stressful about my job. I am working at odd hours and get very little sleep. I also have a two and a half year old son whom I have to take care of. With the kind of work schedules that I have I can hardly think of going in for spa therapies.
However, I manage to go for full body massage once in 2-3 months perhaps. I simply love massages and I have tried chocolate massages, reflexology, etc. I like going in for hair spas as well and have a lady come home for it just in case I do not have enough time to go out for it. Exercising is equally de-stressing and so I make sure that I exercise every day. One thing that I simply love is sitting in a corner and meditating.
CEO and Founder, Freshwater PR
Being a PR executive for celebrities and movies the work schedules are erratic. The timings for the various events being held are just as erratic and exhausting. Long meetings also tire you a lot.
I do indulge in spa therapies once or twice in a month. There are these Forest Essentials massages, Thai foot massages that I go in for though I am not really a massage person. However, I do love pampering my hair and go for hair spas to take special care of them. I love to dance and think that there is no better cure to stress than dancing. I enjoy dancing contemporary, salsa or zumba. It really relaxes your mind. Apart from that I think that hanging out with your friends or going in for a good movie works helps you de-stress too.
Owner, Gostana Cafe, Mumbai
Owning a cafe is no cakewalk. I have to work on all days of the week and I do not get a day off. I have to supervise the staff and sometimes work with them at times. I take orders and make them myself too. It is as good as being married to the job itself.
Once in a blue moon perhaps I go in for spa therapies considering I hardly get any time away. I like to read, watch a movie or even just listen to music. I enjoy doing yoga as well. I love animals. I would love to spend a quiet holiday on a farm with animals, even if it was only for one day.
