If your wedding is in a few months, there’s no time to lose! Looking your glowing best on your big day requires meticulous planning. We spoke to celebrity dermatologist Dr. Shefali Trasi Nerurkar, La Piel Clinic in Mumbai, on skin and hair basics for every bride. “Typically, a pre-bridal consult includes a face and hair care consultation and a treatment plan for any concerns she may have,” says Dr. Shefali.

Check out the pre-wedding skin care routine for brides below:

Acne is a common problem in your 20s and 30s. A trip to a dermatologist can save you tears (and scars). It’s a good time to start using prescription topical creams or facial peels to knock out breakout causing bacteria and oils. It’s important to start six months ahead because your skin takes times to adjust to a new regime. It’s also a good idea to start dermatologist administered facials to slough off dull, dead surface skin and improve circulation. Though remember NOT to have a facial at least one week before your wedding.
Thick, glossy hair never happens by accident. “Brides must consult a doctor at least six months before their wedding for medicated hair products to improve shine and texture or laser therapy to address hair fall or thinning,” says Dr. Shefali. “Avoid chemical or hot treatments well in advance to restore health and shine to your hair.” Also, start repairing strands from the inside out. Eat a diet rich in B Complex vitamins—think eggs, fish, nuts and milk—to give yourself a head start.
This is also a good time to embark on a healthy diet even if you’re in shape. And if losing a few kilos is the game plan an exercise regimen. A brisk 45-minute walk daily and light weights, along with a healthy diet will do wonders. Also take a daily multi vitamin and Omega 3-6-9 capsule to beautify you inside out.  Nykaa recommends INLIFE Multivitamin and MultiMinerals, 60 Tablets With Biotin For Men and Women and HealthAid Balanced Omega 3.6.9.

This is the right time to take care of pigmentation, acne scars, dullness/tan removal or face slimming. “There is a wide range of skin treatments to address these concerns including Chemical Peels to improve skin texture and tone, Microdermabrasion to reduce scars and marks, and CO2 Fraxel/ Pixel/Microneedle Radiofrequency lasers to tighten skin and improve scars and pigmentation,” says Dr. Shefali. She also recommends Botox and Fillers to make the face look fuller and relax frown lines. Brides should also start laser hair removal if growth is excessive, she adds.
“Dark circles and puffiness are also common bride-to-be problems because the skin around the eyes is particularly sensitive,” she says. She advises a nightly application of eye cream and adequate sleep along with a cool compress once or twice a week to keep puffiness at bay. It’s also a good idea to stay off salty food in the weeks before the wedding to reduce under-eye puffiness. Nykaa suggests L'Oreal Revitalift Laser X3 Eye Cream.

Cocktail dresses and sexy cholis need your skin to look it’s smoothest, silkiest best. “I advise brides to have CO2 Fraxel laser or Yellow Peel treatments to reduce stretchmarks and rough skin on visible areas on the arms, back and décolletage so that the bride is comfortable wearing wedding outfits,” says Dr. Shefali.  Post treatment, remember to lavish care on treated skin with a light moisturizing sunscreen like Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte SPF 50 PA+++ Gel Sunscreen daily.
You’ll be smiling through your wedding festivities and this is the right time to start taking care of your lips. “Start using a Vitamin E and SPF infused lip balm (like Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Lip Moisturizer SPF 15) and gently exfoliate lips at least once a week to keep your pout in top shape,” she adds.

If you sweat excessively and none of the over-the-counter remedies have helped, this is a good time to have Botox injected in the arm pits by a dermatologist to take care of this embarrassing problem. After all, dark, wet patches on pricey bridal wear is never a good look. For that fresh bright eyed flush start drinking plenty of water and vegetable juices to ensure your skin looks its hydrated, dewy best.
You'll probably treat yourself to a pedicure before the big day, but start caring for your feet at least a month before the wedding. Use a foot rasp daily to scrub away dry, cracked skin on heels and toes. Every night slather on a foot cream like Fabindia Avocado Foot Cream and slip on a pair of cotton socks to seal in moisture overnight.

“This is the perfect time to opt for a full body polish (Microdermabrasion) treatment along with a bridal facial customized for the bride,” concludes Dr. Shefali.
