High octane styles we loved at LFW Winter / Festive ’14 - III
Ileana D’Cruz looked like an angel as she walked the ramp for fashion designer Arpita Mehta dressed in a striking fuchsia lehenga choli with leafy gold embroidery. This was clearly one of the finest pieces in the collection. The choli was designed almost like a bodice-bra, giving the ensemble a Western vibe.
With jhumkas and kadas teamed with the clothes the ensemble was undoubtedly ethnic. However, the metallic bronze manicure, side. swept vintage curls, glossy lips and metallic eye shadow added a contemporary “brides wanna have fun too” element to the look.
Watching Shruti Haasan in a pastel princessy attire was like a breath of fresh air. One is so used to spotting her in grungy black that it’s easy to forget how pretty she really is. Attired in a gorgeous peachy two piece gown—a floor length skirt and crop top–by Shehla Khan, the beautiful actress-singer was transformed into an ethereal beauty. The skirt was styled to look like a gown with a sheer finish. Both the top and the skirt were given just a hint of delicate silver lace work detailing, imparting an other worldly fairy tale princess look. The gorgeous attire didn’t require any accessories; and rightly the only accessory Shruti wore were strings of delicate white pearls styled to look like a set of bangles. That and softy styled tresses flowing down a shoulder.
Shehla Khan’s collection featured gowns, skirts and dresses which were a blend between Western and Indian designs. Even the ensemble worn by Shruti looked like a blend between a European gown and an Indian lehenga choli. The delicate design was an interplay between soft and light floral hues as the central color theme. Her makeup was given a natural finish with full volume lashes to add glamour and her hair left loose in carefree curls. As she walked down the ramp, she looked every inch a fairy princess.
Manish Malhotra presented his Gloss inspired Indian Cocktail collection, at the grand finale. The glossy five day affair came to an end as the designer showcased a breath-taking collection inspired by Lakme’s latest beauty statement. Staged in exuberant couture-ensemble, this new collection was a glamorous twist to bridal couture in India, depicting Manish’s signature style.
Varun Dhawan was the surprise show stopper! He opened the show to thunderous applause. The highlight of the show was Kareena Kapoor Khan, showstopper and face of Lakmé Absolute, as she looked more glam and glossy than ever before. Kareena’s stunning appearance on the ramp was a vision of beauty as she glided down the ramp in a glittering silver front open low back kurta over a shaded shimmering diaphanous paneled lehenga and a sensational grey tulle cape appliquéd with rose motifs and lace.
Complementing the outfits was Lakmé’s new Absolute Gloss makeup range that took Manish’s glossy ensembles to the next level of glamour. The finale saw models strutting down the runway, their faces radiant with the sheen of glossy skin and their looks finished with high-shine lip colors, lacquered glossy nails and jewel-toned peepers. Eyes went glossy with the newly launched Gel Addict Eyeliners in jewel tones of wine and sapphire blue.
In collaboration with Manish, the Lakmé makeup expert Daniel Bauer crafted his brilliance backstage on each model with the newest picks from the beauty block – Gloss Addict Lip Colour, Gloss Stylist Lip Gloss and the Gel Stylist Nail Color, each shade casting a celebratory, shiny charm.
As Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovation Lakmé, aptly put it: “The Indian bride today is looking for a contemporary twist to her traditional roots and hence we bring to her the Lakmé Absolute Bridal Dream Team that provides unique Gloss looks to flaunt this wedding season. The bridal interpretation of the Gloss Look sees jewel toned lined eyes in rich finish along with high shine glossy lips in shades of plums, reds and pinks personally handpicked by Kareena. With an ace combination of Manish’s creative excellence, Lakme makeup expertise team and Kareena’s grace, we are thrilled to introduce yet another global runway trend in India.” Need we say more?
