Maximise hair texture and sheen with vinegar
Beauty begins at home, more specifically in the kitchen. For lustrous hair and flawless skin, you do not need to look any further than what you already in your groceries cabinet. Basic household items, such as baking soda, honey and olive oil, are the easiest and quickest fix for all of your beauty flubs. here, we look at some more quick fix its at home.
Kissable lips minus the lip balm
If you have dry and chapped lips, take a dry wash cloth and apply olive oil onto it and rub in a circular motion on the lips. Do this for several minutes and rinse off the residue.
Streak your hair without ammonia
You want that wonderful sun-kissed look in your hair but are afraid they will be limp with all that ammonia? Simply squeeze out the juice of two lemons and massage it onto your hair. Leave on for two hours. The acid reacting with the sun's UV rays accelerates the highlighting process.
Use an ice cube a day to keep the fat, acne and wrinkles away
Before you go to bed, grab an ice cube and massage it over your face. By no means is it the most comfortable thing, but you will get used to it. Use it until it melts and go to bed knowing you are on the road to preventing three things that are simply annoying.
Tea to wake up your eyes
You've had a late-night party and are just too tired to wake up, but having a cup of hot chamomile or green tea will lift your spirits. Not just that, the used tea bags will help get rid of the eye puffiness as well. Steep a bag of green tea let it cool down and dab it over your face. The antioxidants in green tea helps to calm inflamed and irritated skin. The diuretics in tea also helps to drain face off any puffiness or swelling. Placing the bags over inflammed acne spots and they work much better than any product.
Coffee powder scrub
Need a quick glow facial but don't have time to go to the salon? Mix coffee powder with your body wash or conditioner, and scrub over the whole body! Finish by applying a gorgeous lotion, and enjoy the glow.
Wash your face with honey
Honey is anti-inflammatory, soothing and removes makeup without stripping as well. Scoop it out with a spoon, and use it to wash your face. Rub with fingertips in a circular motion and keep using water drops to moisten it if it gets too dry and sticky. Then remove with a warm wash cloth once you're finished.
Banish nailpolish stains from your nails
Even after using polish remover repeatedly over again on the same nail, bold red or pink nail polishes tend to leave that horrible brown tawny stain that takes weeks to go away. After removing the actual coat of polish off nail beds, use a lemon wedge dipped in baking soda to scrub each finger squeaky clean.
Egg nutrition for your skin
If you have no time for a facial and your skin's looking dull and tired, whip out an egg white mask for instant rejuvenation. The protein in the egg white helps to heal, tighten and tone your skin. Regular use will also help clear the skin off blemishes. Those who have dry skin can also include the yolk to naturally firm and moisturize the skin.
De-bloat with apple vinegar
A bloated, full sensation is very common during the festive season and many weddings that we attend – what with the rich food and sweets that we stuff ourselves with. To reduce the acidity and general feeling of being blaoted, mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with five ounces of lukewarm water and drink up. Within an hour, the enzymes in the vinegar will slow down the production of gastric juices in the stomach and support proper digestion.
Getting the red to stay on your lips
Fun red lips are in vogue this season but are definitely tough to maintain all night long. To get extra long-lasting painted lips, use a beetroot chunk directly on moistened lips before applying your lipstick. Carefully rub the beetroot only on the lips as it will stain your lips bright red almost instantly – you don't want a popsicle-like ring of red around your mouth on your night out, that's for sure. Even when your lipstick begins to fade, your bold lips will appear to be intact even hours later due to your beetroot- primed pout.
…And then getting it off!
Okay, so you have left everybody stunned with your drop-dead-gorgeous red lips but trying to remove the lipstick can leave your lips raw and scratched! Instead of rubbing your lips raw with a wash cloth trying to get it off just use good old eye makeup remover, or baby oil, so much easier and won't rip your lips off in the process!
Freeze the freshness with a cold shower
Before you get out of the shower, rinse with a cold blast of water. It tightens and closes up unsightly pores of your skin as well as the cuticles in your hair, and makes you glow. It is scientific – first, a steaming hot shower opens up every cuticle and pore and the cold rinse locks the freshness.
