Going under the knife is passé. An update on the latest non-surgical treatments to tackle signs of ageing
Very often there are scenes in many movies that have the female lead looking into a mirror and admiring the way she looks. It is a very simple moment but makes you think quite a bit. That smooth, clear and flawless skin is something that every one of us wishes to retain. The first signs of ageing are always noticed on our skin. Thankfully, there are several options available today to help us age more gracefully. In case you are planning to solve the issue of your ageing signs through surgical treatment, be sure to check out the non surgical treatments offered. They might well be more appropriate for you and economic as well. It provides your skin with the care that it needs. Increasing numbers of women are going through this process as opposed to the surgical ones.
There is a long list of non surgical treatments available in this day and age. Among all the methods, lasers, radiofrequency, Botox and fillers are some of the most common clinical anti ageing procedures that people approach. One of the main reasons for their popularity is their instant results in erasing the lines that make you look older than you are. Innumerable celebrities have used the Botox methods to revert to their young looks. There are also a number of brands that sell anti ageing products you can get your hands on that help you gradually reduce wrinkles.
The good thing is
The non surgical treatments are way more convenient and are not time consuming either. “It is a half an hour job and you can go home. You do not have to stay away from work for long as well. The procedures can be performed in a short period of time. In fact, you can have the procedure performed and go to work the very next day,” says Dr. Madhuri Agarwal, a dermatologist. “There is not much after care involved,” adds Dr. Agarwal. Unlike the surgical treatments, there are no bandages or stitches involved. The procedures are much simpler. A lot of surgical methods of anti ageing available have been known to go wrong many a times. This is yet another reason that has encouraged more people to seek for non – surgical ones for younger looking skin.
Not bound forever
The duration of how long these treatments last is different for different procedures. The Botox treatment lasts for about four to six months and laser for two to three months. The radiofrequency technology last for between six to twelve months while filler last for between twelve to eighteen months. Accordingly, you can decide on how often you can have these procedures performed on you and retain a youthful look.
Surgical Vs non surgical treatments
More and more people are approaching non surgical treatments. “The numbers of people resorting to these treatments really depend from clinic to clinic. I think that about 70% of the people that walk into a clinic go in for the non invasive treatments. A number of plastic surgeons are also known to offer these treatments to their patients,” says Dr. Agarwal.
“The surgeries last about five to six years and are irreversible. The non surgical treatments on the other hand are reversible,” she continues. That is one up for non invasive anti ageing treatment. The results shown by these methods are most definitely as good as the surgical procedures. In addition, there is the option for you to have only a certain part of the face or body that you wish to get fixed and not the whole body.
Skin type no hype
It is safe for people with all skin types to go through these treatments. So if you have dry skin or oily skin, it is not going to cause a problem to you. All those above the age of 30 are opting for them. However, in case you are suffering from any serious medical conditions, you have to be cautious while having these non invasive treatments performed on you. The condition has to be carefully supervised. With a trained doctor by your side, you have nothing to worry about.
Before and after
A lot of times we are given a list of precautions to be taken by a doctor when we have to take up any kind of treatment and an even bigger one afterwards. However, it’s not the case here. “There is no precaution to be taken per say. You just walk in and receive treatments. Only one precaution you might want to take is to avoid taking any medicines during the course of the treatment. For example, if you are suffering from diabetes then do not take Asprin or Vitamin E tablets till after the treatment,” suggests Dr. Agarwal. “After you have gone through the procedure, sun exposure is to be avoided. Application of sunscreen regularly is highly recommended. Do not go in for any beauty treatments for the next ten to fifteen days as well,” she continues.
Post 30 years is ideally considered to be the right time for you to go through these treatments. Nonetheless, the current lifestyles have shown early ageing signs in a number of women. Some in their late twenties also walk into clinics for fixing their problems. “I have women from 25 years of age onwards walking into my clinic to seek non surgical anti ageing treatments,” shares Dr. Agarwal.
Not so spa
Visiting a spa does not have any anti ageing benefits as such. Dr. Agarwal says, “It is meant more for relaxation and reviving. It helps you in your overall health and well being.” So do visit a spa to relax but it does not have any anti ageing benefits.
