Outstanding looks from Lakme Fashion Week - Day 2
The next day was wild and buzzing with stars and shutterbugs. It was a celeb watchers paradise with well known designers on a roll and many famous faces gracing front row seats at the packed fashion shows.
Valliyan by Nitya Arora infused over-the-top accessories with Art Deco influences from the 1920s. Sneha Arora‘s ‘A Soldier Story’ collection had a marked regimental look obvious from the sharp lines of the silhouettes and smudgy images of the prints. Meanwhile Little Shilpa‘s accessories evolved dramatically as she turned her attention to the evergreen sari and the katori choli, giving them her own unique twist.
We admit that it’s not easy to carry off these runway looks in your everyday life but you could pick up a few pointers and play around with the looks to give them your own unique twist. Lets take a look at three outstanding looks of the day.
No. 1: Ken Ferns
Ken Ferns is fast becoming a favorite of many stars. His quirky sense of fashion is what the Indian fashion scene needs. He specializes in stage outfits on dance show Jhallak Dikhla Ja but in sharp contrast to those showy pieces, he presented a far more wearable line for the contemporary woman.
The makeup was sharp and edgy with attention to the eyebrow and detailing on the brow shape. You could try this look for high fashion event where you know all eyes will be on you. The hair is slicked and tied back . The lips were uniformly pouty red and heavy glossed.
No. 2: Rajat Tangri
I first met Rajat Tangri at his home for a shoot of his earlier collection. One look at his home and you know the man has a sense of style. Rajat’s roots are Australian and he is strongly influenced by European style sensibilities, giving his collection a perfect southern and northern hemispheric touch.
His ladies wear is fabulous but it’s the men’s collection that had us drooling. We spotted Randeep Hooda walk the ramp for Tangri in a black bow tie and embroidered tux. His hair pulled up straight stubble and a light bronzing . Try out the look or have your man try it. You’ll fall in love all over again, guaranteed!
No. 3 Aarti Vijay Gupta
Aarti Vijay Gupta knows no norms. She is bold and confident and you can see that in her collection. This woman taught me not to care about what anyone thinks. Fashion is an expression. Some might love your style while others might hate it. At the end of the day, its important to be true to your own sense of style to be truly free.
Drawing inspiration from music and art, her collection was all about prints. The makeup was subtle with the eyes being the center of attention , enhanced by her signature eye wear. The lips were left nude with a highlighting of gentle frost.
The hair was pulled off the face and knotted at the back of the head with a huge puff in the front. You can recreate the puff as you like. The look is perfect be it day or night. You can never go wrong with it.
