Outstanding looks from Lakme Fashion Week - Day 3
Mid fashion week and everyone was suffering from a serious case of style fever. There was a profusion of colors, textures and fabrics. While there were plenty of cool and wearable styles on display, there were some pretty far out, awe inducing creations as well.
Nupur Kanoi opened the show with Kutch embroidery in deep red. She used the biker jacket as an inspiration, using its basic form to create a long jacket, gilet kurta dress and a wrap dress. Amit Agarwal’s garments were hand sewn with minute detailing of molding, metal and drape in fine chiffon and jersey to give a sculpted construct. Huemn by Pranav Mishra and Shyama Shetty showcased oversized coats, parallel trousers and leather separates with an interesting dimension to women’s wear.
The makeup transformed as the day went by. From neutral , matte and shocking to glossy, dull and shimmery, we saw every shade, tint and texture on display. The hair too was the focus of attention with updos, messy buns, slicked back strands and waves making an appearance. Check out the products listed below . They’re bound to be a fashionista’s delight, definitely worth a try in the upcoming festive season.
No. 1 Amit Aggarwal
Amit Aggarwal a protégé of Tarun Tahiliani’s, has stepped out with some bizarre creations. His garments are truly “High-Fashion”. Delicious enough to eat!
The garments were metallic as was the makeup. Pick metallic hues and go crazy this coming season. Try combining gold and blue, silver and olive green, or copper and violet. As wild as they may sound together they actually look ravishing when teamed up with the perfect garment.
No. 2 Anita Dongre
Anita Dongre has injected fresh blood into high street fashion like no other Indian designer has. With brands like AND and Global Desi she has created affordable designer wear for the mid-market shopper. Her collection was clean cut and smart, a style that women today want.
Like her clothes, the makeup and hairstyling was also kept simple and to the point. All you need is a Lakme Foundation Powder, blush a refreshing shade of lipstick, eye liner and mascara to get the classy, simple Anita Dongre look.
Finally, treat your mane to some leave-In conditioner, blow dry or let it flow au-naturale.
No. 3 Dhruv Kapur
Dhruv Kapur of DRVV and Square Loop showed collections that were swift and New Age. They offered a glimpse of the past, present and future. While Square Loop gave us a feel of the past with its neutrals, DRVV flashed garments with a more futuristic edge and style.
What I liked were the hair styles that suited both time periods. The basic gel or wet look solution works equally well with both styles. It’s a look that I believe men will carry with panache for ever and ever.
