A classic nail art combo to keep the Christmas cheer alive .
Christmas may have come and gone but that doesn’t mean your spirits shouldn’t remain chirpy and cheerful. How better to keep the holiday spirit alive than with stylish red-green-gold styled nails? Time to forget the Santa faces, snowflakes and glitter and opt for high fashion, trendy nail art to get the ultimate luxe nails and give a colorful start to the New Year.
Step 1.
Base coat
Apply a base coat to ensure an even surface for the nail paint to adhere to. It also helps in making the polish last longer while preventing yellowing or discoloration of nails. I think Rimmel 5 In1 Nail Treat Base & Top Coat or Rimmel Stronger Try Harder Double Duty Base Coat works as an excellent base coat.
Step 2
Red nail polish
After the base coat has completely dried, apply a coat of your favourite red nail polish. I have picked the Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist in Tomato Tango. The color is a beautiful deep cool toned red which applies opaque in just one coat, saving you lots of ‘waiting for it to dry’ time!

Step 3
Green nail polish
Once the red nail paint has dried, apply any green nail paint of your choice covering one third of your nail. You can use a bright green like Avon Electric Green or a dark one like OPI Nail Lacquer Classics’ Here Today Aragon Tomorrow. Let the nail paint dry completely. You may need to do a second coat to ensure opaque color.
Step 4
Gold glitter
Now apply a gold nail paint like Color Show (Bold Gold) on the tip of the third finger and sprinkle some loose gold glitter (Konad Pro Nail Deco Point Glitter – Gold) over it.
Tip: If you don't own loose gold glitter powder, you can crush a small amount of gold eye shadow and sprinkle it over the nail tip.

Step 5
Gold accent using liner
Next, use a gold glitter liner to draw a vertical line along the edge of the green nail polish. Let it dry completely. Repeat this step for all the nails. You can use any gold liner for this step. I used the Lakme Absolute Shine Line in Golden. However, Maybelline Vivid and Smooth Eyeliner Pencil in Shade Gold works just as well.

Finishing touches
Top coat and clean up
Use a clear top coat to seal the glitter in and ensure that your nails stay glossy and chip-free for a long time! You can use Revlon Color Stay Top Coat here.  This is also the right time to use a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover to clean up any mistakes and spills. You can use Colorbar Nail Polish Remover.
To jazz up the nail art a little more, you can cover the entire nail of the third finger with gold glitter instead of just the tip. This will add an interesting gold accent to your nail art!
