We have our range of faves from iconic makeup artist Bobbi Brown’s award-winning line. But we wanted pro validation from a BB artist, so that’s exactly what we got. You’ll be happy to know we’re all in sync - By Parizaad Khan Sethi
Eliano Bou Assi, Director of Artistry & Education, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics for Europe, Middle East, Africa & India, reveals his favourite BB products. Brb, our credit card is currently taking a beating.
Wave goodbye to dark circles with this duo. Start with peachy, yellow-toned Corrector to brighten and neutralize discoloration under the eyes. Apply using a concealer brush, starting from the innermost corner of the eye and then gently blend with your fingers. Next, layer on a Creamy Concealer directly over the corrector.
BB foundations are a godsend for Indian women, as they tend to skew more towards the yellow end of the colour spectrum, thus blending better with our skin tones. Every skin type or colour will find a match. The Skin Foundation SPF 15 is perfect for normal to oily skins, while drier peeps will benefit from the skincare benefits in the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation. The Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation slips easily into a handbag for those always on the go (and gives a gorgeous full-coverage dewy finish), while the Face Touch Up Stick and Retouching Wand are for minimalists who don’t even burden themselves with a handbag (or for the maximalist, who wants full-time foundation access wherever they go!)
For the most natural look, spot apply foundation around the nose and mouth where there is often redness—and blend it out using your fingers, a foundation brush or a makeup sponge.
Powder is what will set your foundation and concealer, ensuring it lasts all day or night. This is a dresser must-have (purse alternative: Sheer Finish Pressed Powder)—dust it over foundation and concealer with a fluffy brush or a powder puff.
When you’re nostalgic for beach living and the resultant tan (we’re never not nostalgic for that), fake it till you make it. Break out the Bronzing Powder and a bronzer brush, and get swirling in a figure 3 pattern on each side of the face: start at the temples, sweep under the cheekbone and go under the jawline.
Nothing gives you instant pretty quicker than a pop of blush—even the very act of putting it on makes us smile! Bobbi’s matt powder Blush comes in a rainbow of juicy shades while the creamy Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks—infuses the face with a natural, flushed glow. Smile, and apply on the apples of cheeks, blending up towards the hairline, then downwards to soften color. For a hit of festive shine, top your blush with a sweeping of Shimmer Brick.
Lipstick is the weapon of choice of the polished and pulled-together. Find a lipstick that looks good when you’re barefaced, using the true color of your lips as inspiration. Look for one that looks like your natural lip color taken up a notch. The intense Luxe Lip Color is a sure shot route to attention-grabbing lips, the Creamy Matte Lip Color is non-drying, while Art Sticks can be built up from a soft stain to full-coverage.
Are brows everyone’s favourite feature? If you’re not there yet, here’s how to make it happen! This water, sweat- and humidity-resistant pencil is a serious multitasker. Brush it on in short, individual strokes, refining the shape of the brow and filling in gaps where necessary. Use the spoolie at the other end to blend the colour in.
Need a shortcut to a smoky eye? Use a shimmery shade from lash-line to crease, and intensify the lash line and outer third of the eye with a deeper hue like Bark or Rich Caviar. Done and done!
This gel liner is an industry legend, and once you use it you won’t question why. It really doesn’t budge. After wearing Black Ink, explore the colour range featuring deep shimmer and matt shades.
Ake any eye look pop with this long-wearing mascara that takes lashes sky high.
