I"ve been researching healthier diet options and chia seeds kept popping up as a suggestion. One big reason is that it helps regulate blood sugar and I'm prediabetic, so I wanted something to help me stop having spikes in my blood sugar. Usually, I'm the one, who hesitates to try alternative sources because I'd become convinced that some alternatives are a fad. Then I read this on WebMD: 'Chia seeds are an unprocessed, whole-grain food that can be absorbed by the body as seeds (unlike flaxseeds). One ounce (about 2 tablespoons) contains 139 calories, 4 grams of protein, 9 grams fat, 12 grams carbohydrates and 11 grams of fiber, plus vitamins and minerals. That's alot of health in just two tablespoons. I started by sprinkling it in rice pilaf (after it was cooked), and this looked pretty and had no taste. Then I sprinkled on a salad and again, I didn't really taste anything but did get the health benefits. I started experimenting on everything.

Chia seeds is a well addition to your weight loss diet, though no foods can help you loose wight if not followed with a balanced diet and exercise. Chia seeds pack a good amount of dietary fiber, have protein and are highly soluble.Eating more fiber and protein is linked to weight loss.Eating more of chia seeds will keep you fuller for longer periods of hours and eventually make you eat less through out the day.
