Pretty with a touch of punk: that’s what we see in the makeup forecast for sisters. - By Parizaad Khan Sethi

1Bare minimum base

Your makeup has one job: to make you glow. And good glow always starts with the skin, so exfoliate well and moisturize like your life depends on it. Apply a liquid luminizer (look for very fine shimmer particles like in M.A.C Strobe Cream) all over the face, and follow with a light layer of M.A.C Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation. This sheer base will even out the skin without looking too ‘foundation-like’. Plus, it has SPF which has two benefits: a) skin protection, if it’s an outdoor wedding and b) that gorgeous glow which SPF products give. Cover up blemishes with the Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick and lightly dust powder over the T-zone.

2Kohl’d out eye

Here is where we suggest you go old-school, and the smudgy kohl eye is the perfect way to do that. It’s carefree and effortless, yet brings sex appeal, drama and intensity to the eye. Put down a shimmery peach or nude eyeshadow and line the top and bottom lashes with a soft kohl pencil like M.A.C Eye Kohl in Smolder. Smudge that slightly with a smudging brush (even a Q-tip will do) and fill in the upper and lower waterline. Add lots of black mascara and a few individual lashes to the outer corners of the eye. Don’t forget to fill in the brows. No makeup is complete without a perfect brow.

3Add colour

Every makeup artist’s 3-second trick to make anyone look youthful is to just add blush. A peachy coral shade really pops on Indian skin tones. Try and choose a cream blush: those blend and melt into the skin like a dream, looking more like a natural flush and less like blush.
Another pro trick: for makeup to look polished and professional, wear blush and lipstick in similar shades. A juicy coral lip is the way to go.

4Braid up

Braids are everything this season. A braided hairdo can portray many things, and depending on your personality, choose either the soft and feminine path or one that gives a badass vibe. Milkmaid braids (a crown-like braided hairstyle) will be the former, while a braided undercut is the edgier option. If you really want to push it, boxer braids are a Kardashian fave.

5Nail the nails

With the whole look being so feminine and angelic, use nails as your way to bring in some punk. Nothing beats a textured short black nail. For an all-in-one-bottle option, we love Ciaté Paint Pot in Stargazer. The black brings the goth while the glitter adds the glam.
