2018’s Beauty Ingredients We Want More Of

by | 1 shares 5.2K views 5.2K views
The year gone by had its share of bizarre skin and hair ingredients (camel milk or dragon’s blood anyone?) but there were plenty others that made their mark, and hopefully will stick around in 2019 too. Here’s my pick of eight beauty trends and ingredients I loved, and definitely want to see more of next year.

Read on to know about the best 2018 beauty trends and beauty products out there:

  • Kukui Nut Oil

Coconut Oil’s hydrating properties are legendary but say hello to its less greasy (more glam) cousin. This natural Hawaiian wonder is a manna for dried, damaged skin thanks to its essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants. This marvellous skin care ingredient, also quickly melts into skin and hair to instantly restore calm, moisture and glow. Need I say more?

Try: The Body Shop Spa Of The World Hawaiian Kukui Cream and OGX Anti-Frizz Hydrating Kukui Oil.

  • Plant Stem Cells

As veganism becomes a fast-catching trend, plant stem cells (as opposed to those extracted from animal tissue) made waves thanks to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect against sun damage and skin aging. These miraculous natural beauty ingredients target specific skin problems such as wrinkles, visible capillaries and sun damage, replacing worn out, dying cells, and boosting collagen production to make skin tighter and plumper.

Try: O3+ Time Expert Wrinkle Filler Apple Stem Cell and Mantra Herbal Anantam Under Eye Revitalizer Serum - Swiss Apple Stem Cell, Saffron And Nano Silver

  • Quinoa

We all know the tummy flattening wonders of this vegetarian complete protein, but now it’s time for quinoa to shine in skin and hair care as well. Packed with proteins, vitamins, and antioxidants, this superfood ward off signs of aging by boosting collagen production and trapping moisture thanks to its combination of proteins, amino acids and humectants. Plus, it helps hair stays strong by repairing damage and protecting against breakage.

Try: Godrej Professional Quinoa Smooth Shampoo and Raw Nature Face Wash - Activated Charcoal & Quinoa.

  • Carbonated Skin Care

In the mood of a bubbly…on your face? The newest face pack innovation involves using sparkling water in your skincare regime purportedly to increase firmness. This beauty trend and face-cleansing technique—first made popular in Korea--keeps the cells between collagen fibres strong. The result? Plump, firm skin and squeaky-clean pores without harsh exfoliators. I’ve tried it and I’m sold!

Try: Glamglow Bubble Sheet Mask and MaskerAide Bubble Bubble Sheet Mask.

  • Clay Soaps

This new cleansing trend—not to be confused with multani mitti—took our daily cleansing ritual to a new level. The foam deep cleans and detoxifies skin thanks to the alumina in clay that penetrates pores to absorb dirt, sebum and toxins. (Bye-bye pollution!) Unlike many thorough cleansers, clay doesn’t deprive skin of moisture and, in fact, promotes regeneration. Ideal for oily, acne-prone or sensitive skins.

Try: Lushveda Exotic Rose French Clay Soap and Fuschia Bentonite Clay Natural Handmade Herbal Soap.

  • Saffron

You use it to flavour kheer, now think of it as a multitasking ingredient that’s rich in B vitamins and minerals like folic acid. And its beauty claim? Saffron brightens, soothes, moisturizes and decreases wrinkles, besides combatting acne. You’ll find it featured in plenty of DIY recipes but its acclaim as a trendsetting, holy grail skincare ingredient is fast reaching cult status.

Try: Forest Essentials Delicate Facial Cleanser - Kashmiri Saffron & Neem and Mamaearth Ubtan Body Scrub with Turmeric & Saffron for Tan Removal.
