A Beauty Editor Picks Her Top Body Care Products From Nykaa’s Pink Friday Sale

Broadly speaking, it’s been a great year for beauty, and while COVID-19 continues to shape the space, beauty brands and shopping sites are now quick to adapt to the shift. With that, we see body care as a category experiencing a quick uptick in demand. I see why because over the past two years, I learned (after skimming through my bank statements) that I organically shifted to spending more on body-loving formulas versus makeup and hair—the preference delivered a total reset to my otherwise boring routine. So, the second the Pink Friday sale went live, I quickly logged on to the Nykaa app to restock on my holy grails before they ran out. Okay, call me biased, but have you seen the discounts?

Ahead, everything from body serums and delicious butters to bath gels and butt creams (in case you’re wondering, yes butt creams are amazing) that leave my body cleansed, moisturised and most importantly, healthy.

1. MCaffeine Naked & Raw Coffee Body Scrub

The scrubs that I tested in the past have always left my skin parched after my shower. Not the case with this tub. Powered with lush Arabica coffee and cold-pressed coconut oil, this popular scrub by MCaffeine left a lasting moisturising effect on my skin. Designed to polish and slough away dead skin, what I really like is that it also has a firming effect. Plus, it’s mild enough to use on my face too. Oh, and if you shop during the sale, you’ll get a free mini scalp scrub.

2. Nykaa Wanderlust Shower Gel - Japanese Cherry Blossom

Sakura or cherry blossom is known specifically for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties and combatting signs of early ageing. What I still can’t decide is what I like more about our in-house Japanese cherry blossom shower gel: the delicate scent, or the impressive texture of the product. In just two weeks of using the gel, I found my skin feeling softer. I had lent it to my mother for ONE DAY and that’s the last I saw of it. So of course, I had to buy a new bottle in the sale.

3. Dot & Key Hydrating Hyaluronic Damask Rose & Lavender Body Serum Lotion

I’ve been using body serums for a year, and I can’t begin to tell you how it has changed the way my body feels every day since. I highly recommend them because I strongly feel that taking care of the skin on your body is just as important as we do for your face. Now, while there’s a slew of brands creating formulas for the same, I was impressed with what the Dot & Key body serum had to offer. Infused with damask rose, lavender, and hyaluronic acid, consider this food for your skin.

4. Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom Ultra Shea Body Cream

I guess it’s obvious now that I enjoy cherry blossom in my products (what? I find them therapeutic). I prefer using this tub right after my cherry blossom shower gel to not confuse my body with a totally different ingredient or scent. With the help of aloe butter and fresh mimosa petals, this body cream keeps my skin hydrated round the clock. I like how the fragrance is not overwhelming (which is very important). Also, it’s a great idea to stock up one of these tubes for the winter months.

5. Bare Body Essentials Bum Cream for Skin Tone & Moisturized Butt

A recent rise in butt skincare products has us asking the burning question. Do we really need a tushy cream? The answer is a big fat yes (wait, hear me out). After I picked up this tub by Bare Body Essentials, I noticed that it toned and sculpted my booty muscles for a firm, lifted appearance. It also minimises the appearance of stretch marks. And heck, I look better in my jeans these days too. Call it booty confidence or whatever you like but I like it.
