It's based on a book by investment banker-turned-novelist Chetan Bhagat, and largely follows the travails of his own love life. Written in 2009, it narrates the tale of a couple from two different Indian states who meet at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahemedabad, and fall head over heels in love with each other. The problem? They belong to different states, he's Krish, a Punjabi from Delhi and she's Ananya, a Tamilian Iyengar Brahmin beauty. Their respective parents are horrified at the prospect of such divergent backgrounds merging in marriage, ultimately relenting, allowing true love to prevail. Both actors Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor have already proved their worth with hits in 2012; Arjun with his debut film Ishaqzaade, and Alia with Student of the Year. Alia plays a modern, fun girl, and in a refreshing twist this two-film old actress doesn't adopt hackneyed regional mannerisms common in other films of this genre. The film releases today.
While she played a bratty teen in Student of The Year, her role in Highway was marked by barely there, realistic makeup. In 2 States Alia Bhatt sports an Indian fusion look. The film is shot across different cities, and the actors have adapted their looks and styles accordingly. Generally, Arjun Kapoor wears simple, standard outfits but Alia Bhatt looks stunning at all times, wearing informal jeans and tees or decked up in resplendent silk saris. Her look is simple yet modern. When asked whether comparisons would be drawn between her and Deepika Padukone's look in Chennai Express, Alia thought not. "It's not the same at all. My character is a modern girl who speaks in Tamil only with her parents."

All the more critical as the weather heats up, and you need to look radiant and gorgeous even if it's sticky and miserable outside.
