As we welcome the freshness and warmth of Spring, it's time to recharge our beauty routines. I’ve picked out my top ten beauty essentials for this season. Here goes...
#1
Face Cleanser
It’s very important to change up your skin care as the seasons change. Skin tends to get a little oily as the weather starts to warm up. This seasonal change can cause clogged pores and pimples. I absolutely love using Forest Essentials Mysore Sandalwood & Nagkesar Masque when my skin needs a deep, non-stripping cleanse. This also tightens and brightens skin slightly, drawing out unwanted impurities and excess oil. In fact, it’s one of my favorite picks and I recommend using this once or twice weekly
#2
Hydrating Face Cream
This is also the time to change your moisturizer, especially your night cream. While I love using facial oils in winter, I prefer something a little lighter in Spring-Summer, without compromising on hydration and anti-ageing benefits. The Innisfree Orchid Enriched Cream is the perfect option for ladies in their late 20s-early 30s as it provides ample hydration in a gel-cream formula and addresses early ageing concerns as well!
#3
Dry Shampoo
I think a dry shampoo is a must for sweaty Indian summers! It’s the time of year when scalps experience increased oiliness, leading to limp, greasy looking second day hair. A dry shampoo absorbs excess oil and adds lift and texture to the roots. The Batiste Dry shampoo in Blush has a lovely mild floral scent. Plus, it doesn’t leave white traces and the small travel size is perfect for carrying in one's handbag!
#4
Oil-free Primer
A primer is crucial this time of year to ensure your foundation doesn’t slide off your face with the heat and humidity. I've tried several primers over the years but I keep coming back to the L'Oreal Paris Base Magique Primer. It smoothens and mattifies, so that your face stays fresh and oil-free all day. A must-have!
#5
Peachy Neutral Lipstick
I like introducing a little color into my makeup via lips, nails and eyes in the spring and summer. A peachy neutral/nude goes very well with warmer cheek colors (like the Lakme one pictured above) and my favorite has been the Nykaa So Matte Lipstick in Naughty Nude. Its adds a hint of color without overpowering your face, and the creamy, comfortable formula stays on quite well too!
Swatches (L-R): NYX Matte Lipstick 'Street Cred', NYX Jumbo Pencil 'Peacock', Nykaa So Matte Lipstick 'Naughty Nude'.
#6
Coral Blush
To add a warm, bronzed glow to the cheeks, the Lakme Absolute Illuminate Shimmer Brick in Coral is absolutely perfect. It adds a coral-bronze tint to the cheeks with refined shimmer for a healthy, iridescent glow. Added bonus: The color works across skin tones!
#7
Bolder Lips
If you want to go a little bolder, the NYX Professional Makeup Matte Lipstick in shade Street Cred is a gorgeous coral pink to try this spring. The color pay-off is amazing and the perky pink tint adds so much life and freshness to the face!
#8
Water-proof Mascara
Pair this pretty pink with fluttery lashes for a flirty fresh look. The new Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara builds amazing volume and length. The formula is very durable as well so you needn't worry about your mascara running, no matter how much you sweat!
#9
Teal Eye Liner
I’ve always loved a teal liner to pretty up my eyes in spring-summer. The warm blue just works so well with Indian complexions and brown-black eyes. The NYX Professional Makeup Jumbo Eye Pencils are my favorite because these chubby pencils double up as cream eyeshadow too! You can do a simple striking liner with this shade (Peacock) or smudge it all over the lid for a wash of color. Remember to pair this with a toned-down lipstick like the Nykaa lipstick mentioned above!
#10
Pastel Nail Polish
Lastly, let's not the forget the nails - the easiest and safest way to introduce color in your makeup! You simply cannot go wrong with a cool, fresh pastel blue. I love the Nykaa Matte Nail Enamel in Cool Blue Granita for this season!
So those are my top 10 essentials for spring-summer!
