Between the gags and the glambots, Hollywood’s La La Land has been abuzz with award-season shenanigans, and I am not complaining. After the star-studded affair that was the Golden Globes, the celebrity sightings on the Critics Choice red carpet from last evening definitely drove off my Sunday Scaries. Honouring the outstanding storytellers and performers from across the globe, the American-Canadian Critics Association held its 28th rendition at the ritzy Century Plaza Hotel.
Packed with not-so-subtle jibes, comedian and former late Night Show host, Chelsea Handler’s witty monologue kicked off the coveted ceremony (that had the viewers chortling). Everything Everywhere All At Once, Abbot Elementary as well as Better Call Saul won big, with multiple accolades in the most competitive categories. And while I did pray for the victory of some of my favourites, waiting with bated breath for the winners' list in the wee hours of an otherwise banal Monday morning— I was equally (if not more) enthusiastic about the beauty looks donned at the prestigious award ceremony.
