There’s nothing quite as disappointing as stepping out wearing your favourite lipstick shade, only to realise that it’s already time to sneak into to the restroom to reapply it. Getting your lip colour to stay as you sip on your drinks through the night can be challenging. Even more so when you have to wear a mask. Finding a lipstick that looks gorgeous, is long-lasting, and won’t smudge under a face mask might be hard to find, but don’t fret . We’re here to make things easy for you. As we slowly resume the pre-pandemic way of life (with precautions of course), here’s a quick guide to the best long-lasting lipsticks that you can add to your makeup kit ASAP.
Lipstick Application Tips
Applying lipstick the right way is as important as choosing the right shade. Here’s a lowdown on how to apply your lip colour perfectly.
Step 1: Exfoliate
Not many realise the importance of prepping your lips before applying your lipstick. Your lip care routine should begin with exfoliation. Take a pea-sized amount of the Dot & Key Lip Polish Exfoliating Sugar Scrub and scrub your lips for about 30 seconds and wash it off with warm water. This will help eliminate all the dead skin on your lips. Applying lipstick on dry, flaky lips is the worst so try to exfoliate at least twice or thrice a week for stronger results.
Step 2: Hydrate
Applying a long stay lipstick without don’t include moisturizing properties can be damaging. So, after you exfoliate, apply a nourishing lip balm. The Nykaa Lip Crush Macaron Lip Balm is packed with the goodness of shea butter and vitamin E which will protect your lips all day. It also comes with a bunch of delicious flavours that include vanilla, strawberry and chocolate hazelnut.
Step 3: Prep The Base
Just like you would prep your face, you need to prep your lips too. If you have pigmented lips, use a lightweight foundation or a concealer as base for your lipstick. This trick will not only make your lipstick last longer but also give you a beautiful, opaque pop.
Step 4: Outline
Outline your lips before you put on your lipstick to add that definition. Adding this step will also help accentuate your lip for a fuller, plumper look. Also, make sure the colour of your lip liner matches your lipstick.
Step 5: Apply Lipstick
For the final step, take your favourite lipstick (that is also long-lasting), and start applying it from just below the Cupid’s bow. Start filling it from the centre to the corners until your entire upper lip is covered. After you’ve finished applying your lipstick, smack both your lips together for a smooth finish.
