This Meme Made Me Review The Cetaphil Moisturiser (& Here's What I Think)

This Cetaphil Moisturising Cream review is an aftermath of a meme. Yes, you heard me right. I am a Gen-Z and there is nothing more I relate to than memes. From sharing them on social media to finding dates, memes are everywhere. So, how can a skincare girly ignore a brand or its offering when I see a meme about it?

The Meme That Started It All

Although I have heard of Cetaphil, I haven’t tried it for myself. But better late than never, am I right? After this meme showed up on my feed, I decided to give the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream a try to see if it’s worth the hype. Before we get into it, I have to tell you that this review is about their cream, not lotions. Two products that tend to confuse people often. So, first, let’s break that down.

Creams Vs Lotions

Creams and lotions may seem like the same thing but there are a few differences we need to keep in mind. They are both types of moisturisers that are formulated to hydrate your skin. However, depending on your skin type and needs, you can pick from either. Here are a few differences that can help you make an informed decision.

Texture

Creams as compared to lotions are thicker. Lotions have a higher water content in their formulation. Creams, as the name suggests, are creamier, richer, and thicker in consistency.

Skin Type

Since lotions have a higher water content, they are better suited for combination and oily skin. Lotions hydrate your skin without adding to its natural oil. Creams, on the other hand, are richer and heavier, which is good for normal and dry skin. It absorbs into the skin and leaves it feeling instantly hydrated with a natural glow.

The Crème De La Crème

Now, let’s talk about the cream of (apparently) everyone’s dreams – the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream. In one word, the product is AMAZING. I have very dry, sensitive skin, and this product is honestly, quite helpful. The rich creamy texture instantly melted into my skin and gave me a boost of hydration. Since it's a fragrance-free formulation, my sensitive skin did not experience any redness or flare-ups. The ingredients in this Cetaphil Moisturising Cream include niacinamide (vitamin B3), panthenol (vitamin B5) and hydrating glycerin that improves skin barrier function. Despite being rich in texture, the cream is surprisingly non-greasy and non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog your pores or cause acne.

The packaging is a handy tube and one squeeze gives you the right amount of product for your face. Despite its creaminess, it spreads evenly and absorbs quickly into your skin, giving your skin a full day of hydration. As for the price, it leans slightly on the expensive side. However, I wouldn’t deem it overpriced because the payoff is worth it. Also, since the texture is creamy, you wouldn’t have to worry about restocking frequently – a little bit goes a long way. Overall, I give this cream an 8/10.

While this review would be more relevant to those with dry skin, the brand also offers other products, such as the Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion , for other skin types. This lotion is lighter, spreads evenly, absorbs well, and most importantly is perfect for people who are trying to restore their skin barrier health.

FAQs

1. What is the difference between a lotion and a cream?

A lotion is lighter, has more water content in its formulation, and suits normal to oily skin. On the other hand, creams are thicker, richer, and non-comedogenic, providing instant yet long-lasting hydration for dry to sensitive skin.

2. Why is the Cetaphil Moisturiser trending?

The Cetaphil Moisturisers, may it be the lotions or the creams, are trending because of their unique formulation. The moisturisers are made with niacinamide (vitamin B3), panthenol (vitamin B5) and hydrating glycerin with a blend of characteristic oils suited for their respective skin types, making this range inclusive of all skin types.

3. Should I invest in Cetaphil?

Although Cetaphil is on the pricier end of moisturisers, the formulation is worth the buy. The moisturisers are all fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and paraben-free. They also spread evenly and a small amount can cover your whole face, making it a smart skin-vestment.
