Contrary to the dark color palette the Autumn/Winter runway usually abides by, this season has been a riot of hues. Ever thought pastels would make it to cooler climes? Nudes also continue to rule the roost. And eccentric neon’s made somewhat of a comeback. Scroll on to get the lowdown on 2017’s Winter/Festive color forecast.
HUE: MILLENNIAL PINK
Spotted: Fall/Winter 2017 runway shows at Marni, Mary Katrantzou, Bora Aksu and Altuzarra.
Like us, the runway too doesn’t seem to have gotten enough of this bubblegum shade. Rim it around your eyes for an impish insouciance or rouge it on your apples for an ethereal flush. Double it as a neutral and you can pull off the monotone look that’s strong and soft in equal measure.
HUE: PANTONES 10
Spotted: Fall/Winter 2017 runway shows at Stella Jean, Mulberry, and J JS Lee.
Theyve hit bullseye with their predictions in 2017. What with all the 10 Pantone shades trending: primrose yellow, pale dogwood, hazelnut, island paradise, greenery, flame, pink yarrow, niagara, kale and lapis blue. How else do you think unconventional shades of green, yellow and orange made a debut?
HUE: 50 SHADES OF PURPLE
Spotted: Fall/Winter 2017 runway shows at H&M Studio, Fenty By Rihanna, and Oscar De La Renta.
Its been a while since this royal color had its moment. The runway saw purple in all its glory frosty, bright, magenta, mauve or even villainous raspberry. And lips werent the only feature that popped. It was draped, glided across crease lines and highlighted cheek-and-collar bones.
HUE: RAINBOW COLORS
Spotted: Fall/Winter 2017 runway shows at Ryan Lo, Emilio De La Morena, Byblos, and Maison Margiela.
Picture every color in the rainbow spectrum splashed on models eyelids this season. Shocking contrasts in geometry hypnotized. Some designers were crazier than others. If youd like to give this look a go, do it with a barely-there nude lip and alabaster complexion.
HUE: NEARLY NEONS
Spotted: Fall/Winter 2017 runway shows at Vivienna Westwood, Pucci, and Versus Versace.
A punkish rebelliousness is the aim of this look. Get going with a bright-hued eyeshadow, intensify it around the waterlines and fade it out as you go higher rimming your shadow. Oddly, designers maintained an unanimity by concentrating on just the eyelids. Wonder why? Surely, you can bend the rules if youre confident enough.
HUE: COOL SILVER
Spotted: Fall/Winter 2017 runway shows at Emporio Armani, Tory Burch and David Koma, Central Saint Martins, and Osman.
No season comes to a close without splashes of heavy metal. But this time cool silver really dominated the ramp as a silver lining, glitter bombs, foiled sheaths to an iridescent glow. Another budding trend was vibrant colors dipped in gold, bronze or silver shimmer.
HUE: STRONG NUDES
Spotted: Fall/Winter 2017 runway shows at Acne, Maxmara, Bottega Veneta, and Anne Sofie Madsen.
This soft palette takes a powerful approach. Master the look by infusing subtle brown nuances to your no makeup-makeup face. Pronounce your under brow, contour, highlight your high points or opt for a taupe lippie.
