MADAM MARSALA

What we love about this gorgeous, gothic, red carpet look is that it can be easily amped up or down depending on how much drama you want to bring to the party.
Keep your base and blush simple for this one because you’re going to paint the rest of the town wine-red. To add dimension, use a rich matte marsala eyeshadow, along with a shimmery one and smoke it out with brown liner along the corners of your lids, lash- and waterline. Try to get as close a color-match as possible for your lips and use only a hint of mascara and blush to finish up.

Expert Tip: If you think it’s a bit much for the occasion, you can opt to do one or the other – focusing on either a striking berry lip or marsala-defined eyes.

Broody Bombshell

If you feel like channelling some slow-simmer sultriness, look no further than this classic, pin-up inspired look. After all, the quintessential red pout never lets a girl down – just ask Ms Monroe.
Since this look is defined by the striking red lip, go easy on the eyes with a simple cat eye and plenty of mascara applied in a zig zag fashion for Twiggy-esque, spidery lashes. Make sure to pick a super-saturated, maroon lipstick, and complete your bombshell quotient with a come-hither flush and highlighted cheekbones.

Expert Tip: Want to make the look a little more festive? Smudge a subtle, silvery eyeshadow on your lids and waterline.

PUNK à LA MOD

Punk might be dead, but it lives on in our kohl-lined memories (and vanity kits). Our ode to the era of teen angst and rebelliousness might be a little more ‘grown’ but still has the same amount of ka-pow.
Start with your most trusted kohl, smudging it thick and neat along and under your waterline. If you can’t get the same effect as our muse, Shay – use a a black eyeshadow or a smoky-eye liner. Top it up with plenty of high-volume mascara and swipe your lips with an understated nude lipstick. To add a little more oomph, sculpt your face with a little bit of contour.

Expert Tip: Prevent your liner from becoming racoon-y by picking a waterproof formula and running over it with eyeshadow to seal it in.

ULTRAVIOLET VIXEN

No list of Halloween looks is complete without a nod to the Goth subculture – after all, ultraviolet belonged to them before it was cool. Our take on it, of course, is a little less OTT so you can wear it to that festive do.
Make sure to prime your lids before applying a shimmery purple eyeshadow outward from the corners. You can make it a full-blown smoky eye like Selena’s (just draw out your eyes with black eyeshadow) or wear it as a monotone swathe, defined with subtle liner and mascara. Since you’re going gaga on the eyes, keep your pout subtle and muted.

Expert Tip: Want to add a refreshing pop of color to your look without being OTT? Use it in the corner of your eyes, or as liner instead for a more conservative look.

FEMME NOIR

Too scared to indulge your darker side? Then Camilla’s feminine yet vampy look is just what Dr. Strange ordered. Reminiscent of old Hollywood stars and film noir, this one’s dark, dramatic and demure all at once.
For this one, keep the eyes low-key – just use deep brown eyeshadow to define your crease, and stipple brown liner along your upper lash-line. Opt for an earthy-toned blush angled along your contour line to chisel it up, and complete the look with a lush, satin-finish brown lipstick. Voila, monotone perfection!

Expert Tip: For Camilla’s superstar glow, mix a little strobe cream or face oil in your foundation, topped up with highlighter on the high points.
