Hair is a strong defining factor when it comes to your overall emotional health. If you didn’t know this already, multiple surveys and studies suggest that 40% of our female population are directly affected by how perfect their hair looks or feels on a daily basis. Think about the last time you had a bad hair day (mine was yesterday), chances are that you end up a bit grumpy or irritable—invariably plummeting your confidence.

Honestly speaking, quarantine hair has not been nice to most of us, let alone the endless  impromptu family WhatsApp video calls that you end up attending (without having much of a choice, really)—only to see yourself looking like a crabby Miss Havisham. I just had to do something about this, and well I finally did. This month, I decided to shell out some cash and treat myself to a few good formulas that not only claim to fix my problems, but actually deliver what it promises. I’ve listed them down below.

kama Ayurveda shampoo

Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Hair Cleanser

The most essential yet neglected step in your hair routine is cleansing. When was the last time you got yourself a hair cleanser? Exactly. Well, I got one last week and it literally changed the health of my hair. Powered with potent herbs extracted from milk and sesame seed oil, this cleanser promotes hair growth, cools scalp and fights any form of fungal infection. Oh, and it’s sulphate-free (which is very important).

Aveda Nutriplenish Curl Gelee

As the name suggests, this product is a lush concoction of superfoods packed in a tube, specifically for curly hair. Also, if you have ridiculously dehydrated strands, this vegan formula will sort you out. It provides a 24 hour protection from humidity, adds great shine and really works hard on keeping your curls looking fresh and intact.

Jo Malone London Lime Basil & Mandarin Conditioner

For the longest time, I never really bought the idea of having a conditioner in my cabinet. I’ve always struggled to find a reliable product that actually calmed by unmanageable frizz. This formula by Jo Malone seemed a bit expensive for a conditioner, but I somehow got myself to buy it (and I’m glad I did). It’s got the brand’s signature peppery basil and white thyme fragrance souped in this bottle that also provides a natural gloss after you wash your hair.

L'Occitane Verbena Hair & Body Invigorating Mist

See, the great thing about a hair and body mist is that you’ll never have to worry about your perfume and the scent of your shampoo clashing. Plus, this double-duty product is all everyone’s talking about in beauty right now, so I had to give it a try to see what the hype was all about. And yes, I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome and the response. It’s got this beautiful amalgamation of lemon, verbena and cedar which I love.  I highly recommend this mist for date nights.

Forest Essentials Japapatti And Brahmi Intensive Hair Repair Masque

The longer you wait to treat damaged hair, the harder it honestly gets to fix and style without cutting it all off. Take it from an editor who is used to the process of straightening every few days. This mask has banana pulp, methi and brahmi that promise an intense boost of moisture whether you have straight, wavy or curly hair. Plus, the result is just so satisfying that I feel like I’m doing a nice thing for my hair.
