5 ways to own Pantone Colors of the Year

We’ve seen the future of makeup in 2016, and its pastel! Earlier this month Pantone announced not one but two official colors for 2016. Drum roll please! Rose Quartz (pale pink in case you didn’t know) and Serenity (Periwinkle Blue) have ousted their bolder cousin Marsala to evoke relaxation and tranquillity. Don’t know about you, but could definitely have more of that in our lives. But why two tones this year? “There’s a certain 'fluidity' to the color combination as they are balanced tones of both warm and cool qualities,” explains Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman.
While we wait for Pantone’s official Rose Quartz/Serenity makeup collaboration with Sephora (matte lippies, glosses and eyeshadows in every shade of pastel), we’ve rounded up five ways you can incorporate these gorgeous hues in your makeup routine, right now!
So why do we love Rose Quartz? It’s a softer take on the berry-rust craze of winter. Besides this “stone of love” is believed to help in getting rid of negative emotions and making way for positive vibes. Perfect for adding a flush to your lips, cheeks and nails. Meanwhile Periwinkle Blue may not have the versatility same mileage as Rose Quartz, but you can still use it to mesmerizing effect on eyes and nails for a high impact look.
This serene, cool blue nail polish is a brilliant way to add some blue lights to your winter look without looking over the top. Bonus: This shade looks equally stunning with chunky winter wear and pastel spring clothes.
So pretty and pink you almost want to devour it! This relaxing rose is the perfect pink, muted enough to show off your pinkies yet fun enough to flaunt at weekends.
Sure, pale pink blush might be difficult color to wear, which is why you should stick with a sheer cream shade with a slight golden tint to give your cheeks a lovely shimmery, rosy glow.
The perfect liquid liner for makeup newbies, that even a novice can master the classiest cat eye with ease. Bring back some '60s retro glam with this gorgeous periwinkle shade. Go with a thin line for a hint of serenity or thicken it up for drama.
We're crushing over this sparkly, warm toned pink, pretty enough to perk up your pout with a single swipe. The fact that it gives intense color and shine minus the stickiness wins us over totally. Get it today!
