• Luxury Cleansing Gets Salty New Benefits
A pinch of salt can add flavor to your dish which otherwise would’ve tasted flat without it. The same goes for bath salt! It clearly has nothing to do with taste buds. Nevertheless, if you take a few tablespoons of bath salt and put them in a tub of warm water and rinse your body with it, you will get a sensory treat. As this kind of salt needs to be poured in a bath tub most of us would think twice before getting our hands on this salt which is available in multiple fragrances and colours. Bath tub or no bath tub, you can still reap the benefits of this beauty product.
• No Tub No Worries
Most of us generally associate bath salts with luxury and spa as these seem to be little difficult in incorporating in our daily lives. You can leave that thought behind as there are more ways of using them at home. “Add two tablespoons of bath salt to warm water and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes. This improves circulation and soothes tired feet,” says Rahul Kale, Director at Iraya. The same can be done for hands. The other way to include them in your bathing ritual is to add them to a bucket of water and use it to rinse the body.
• Home Prep
If you believe in starting from first step which is preparation that can be done at home too! Sea Salts like Epsom and Sea, Baking Soda and Glycerine are what you need to make a bath salt of your own. These ingredients will take care of oil, perspiration and dryness. You can also add essential oils which help to improve skin texture and tone. “To make it a more sensory experience, one can add flowers, rose petals, lavender buds but very limited in quantity so that it does not block the drain,” adds Ishween Anand, Founder and Director, NYASSA.
• Think Twice
Benefits are aplenty but use them with caution. If these are not used in right percentage, they can dry out your skin. “In a foot soak or a manicure, one should use three to four tablespoons. In a bath tub, one could use one cup of bath salts,” says Anand. The ingredients are important too. Anything that causes allergy should be avoided so read the label thoroughly. “Individuals having medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes or any heart problem should avoid using the bath salts or check with their doctor before doing so,” says Anand.
