Move over, contouring, there’s a new makeup trend in town. What’s that, you ask. Strobing that’s what! It’s a new, subtler way to accentuate the face without the fiddly, time-consuming application of heavy contour paired with highlighter. Why now? Because it gives a dewy freshness to your face, making you look years younger with minimum effort. So scrap all those heavy bronzing formulas and start hoarding highlighters, you new best friend.
The idea is to accentuate the high points on your face, places that catch the light, so that you get a glowing finish, killer cheekbones and sharper nose. The process is simple enough; just tap the illuminating formula on the tops of cheekbones, the inner brow bone above your brow, the inner corners of your eyes, the bridge of your nose, your Cupid’s bow, and the apple of your chin. More about that in a minute.
Step 1
Mix foundation and illuminator. Don’t use an illuminator infused with glitter particles. You don’t want to look shimmery you just need some highlight.
Step 2
Mix the two and dab all over your face. Massage into skin till it blends well. By now you’ll notice a little shine on your face. However, you’ll still need to highlight the high points on your face.
Step 3
Now it’s time to highlight. You need to highlight your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, inner corner of your eyes, the inner brow bone above your brow, Cupid’s bow, centre of your chin and centre of your forehead. We have used the Colorbar Radiant Glow Face Illuminatorbut you could use any highlighter in powder form.
Expert Tip:
Don’t use a powder to set your look because you want a dewy finish, and not a matte look.
