It’s no secret that each and every one of us editors here at Beauty Book is simply obsessed with all things beauty. And boy, has this been a year to remember completely jam-packed with exciting launches. With each new range that we got access to, our exhilaration knew no bounds. From finding makeup treasures we simply had to have to discovering skin and hair saviors that we wonder how we ever lived without, we’ve experimented with all that’s been new at Nykaa and have successfully narrowed it down to our favorite new launches this year. The competition was fierce, the results were close, but we’ve finally got a list of winners and we’ve had a ball of a time getting here.
Read on to find the best beauty products of 2018 and best beauty brands that made the cut:
Range: 3D Highlighters
Without a doubt, the Huda launch of beauty products has been THE most anticipated one of the year. While we’re gaga over pretty much everything the vivacious Ms Kattan creates, we’ve got to admit the 3D Highlighters are what stole our hearts. Here’s a highlighter palette with two different textures – a pearlescent creamy shade i.e. the Melted Strobe and three light-catching pressed powders. Use these individually or layer them on just like Huda herself does, either way you’re all set for that sculpted, lit-from-within, radiant look that’s all the craze. Huda-holics, this one’s for you.
Range: Matte To Last Liquid Lipsticks
With all the buzz on social media, it was no surprise that the launch of Nykaa’s Matte To Last
range took the country (and Instagram) by storm. And why wouldn’t it when each shade epitomized an iconic Indian city. This range now has a whopping 26 shades representing all India has to offer from the big cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, to the smaller, quainter gems of Kanpur, Gwalior and Shimla. While the packaging is marvellous, the pigment, formulation and shades speak volumes too. Get your hands on this entire range that suits pretty much every skin tone. We already did.
Range: Kareena Kapoor Khan Absolute Collection
Every beauty buff knows Kareena Kapoor Khan is all about those fab makeup looks. So, when she dropped her own exclusive range in a tie-up with Lakmé, we couldn’t be anything but ecstatic. And we weren’t let down. Bebo has left a little bit of herself in this range aptly themed ‘Shades Of A Diva’ complete with pout-defining lipsticks, eye-defining kajals, lash-volumizing mascaras and cheek-contouring blush sticks. There’s something for everyone from this beauty brand. If you’re all about that bold lip, there’s a Lakmé Kareena Kapoor Khan's Perfect Pout Combo
and if statement eyes are up your alley, you’ve got the Best of Kareena Kapoor Khan Collection by Lakmé Absolute Combo.
Really, how could we not be in love?
Brand: FACES Canada
Range: Urban Balance
Anti-pollution products set the market ablaze this year. FACES jumped onto the anti-pollution bandwagon with their much-talked about skincare range Urban Balance which swept us off our feet. Infused with the goodness of Hyaluronic Acid, this miracle-working is the best beauty product range for your complete CTM. Start off with the Daily Cleansing Mousse
, follow that with Pollution Defense Day Cream
by day and the Youth Preserve Night Cream
just before bed. There’s a refreshing (and pollution-fighting) Skin Comfort Serum
which you can use pretty much any time, anywhere. On the days you really wish to pamper yourself, slap on the Charcoal Peel Off Mask.
Say goodbye to those wrinkles, fine lines and skin problems forever.
Range: Water Bank
No roundup of the best launches is complete without a Korean skincare brand. And this top beauty products brand with its cutting-edge water technology that promises glowing skin has got to be one that’s closest to the heart. Enter Laneige’s Water Bank
range that has an essence, a mist, a face cream, an under-eye cream and a mask. It’s packed with Green Mineral Water and infused with six Super Vegetables and Deep Sea Water that instantly pumps your skin with abundant, non-drying moisture. If clear, hydrated skin seemed like a distant dream, not any more.
Range: Soap Story
Nothing beats starting a day with a nice, long, sudsy bath. But ain’t nobody got time for that. Which is why Nykaa Naturals has swept us off our feet with its Nykaa Soap Story Handcrafted Bathing Bars
which manage to transform your daily shower into a luxurious experience. This beauty care products range offers eight delicious-smelling variants ranging from Lavender and Chamomile to Coffee and Cocoa Butter, these creamy textures are infused with Shea Butter, Olive Oil and Coconut Oil that moisturize and nourish the skin leaving you wanting more. You get why this made the list, right?
Brand: Sebastian Professional
Range: Twisted Elastic Range For Curly Hair
Managing curly hair can be quite the task. So, when we got our hands on this Sebastian Professional Twisted Elastic Range for Curly Hair, we were on cloud nine. While the Shampoo
infuse elasticity, lock in moisture and detangle your hair so that curls last longer, the Mask
(to be used after the shampoo) is an expert frizz-fighter transforming those untameable curls into luscious bouncy waves. Keep that head-turning bounce in place with the Curl Reviver Styling Spray
and you’re all set. Girls with curls, this range is your new best friend. Take our word for it.
Brand: Wella Professionals
Range: Fusion Intense Repair Range
We tried and tested umpteen hair care products this year and the Fusion Intense Repair range from Wella Professionals bowled us over. There’s a Fusion Intense Repair Shampoo
formulated with silk Amino Acids that repair hair and protect against damage. Complimenting that is the Fusion Intense Repair Conditioner
which instantly recovers hair fibres so that even the most damaged hair (like some of our hair here) feels renewed, smooth and healthy. And there’s a Fusion Intense Repair Mask
which is honestly our favorite of the three products.
