Perhaps why it’s sacrosanct during Karwa Chauth. Aside from its intricate designs that grabs eyeballs, it’s also an instant conversation starter. Known for three main variations in patterns (Arabic, Pakistani and Indian), it has drastically evolved over time. The West calls it henna. And flaunts it in numerous colours – white, black, rainbow hues, metallic… But nothing beats its original mint green to bright orange to dark brown transformation.
This painless technique requires no former training, just a firm hand to begin. Mix Kama Ayurveda’s Organic Henna Powder or Herbal Roots’ Herbal Henna Powder in water till it forms a thick paste. Henna hacks:
- Always wash hands with soap before applying Henna.
- Do not use a moisturizer prior to application as it forms a barrier and prevents colour from developing
- Let the mixture dry for at least two hours before scraping it off. Peel off only after it is fully dried. Do not wash off with water.
