From dancing in the rain to mesmerising rainbows, from a cup of steaming hot chocolate with freshly made fritters, I am all up for romanticising the rainy season. But, alas, this weather is not just about that amorous window spatter and curling up in a corner with a good book. Monsoon is ubiquitous with frizzy, sticky hair, dry skin, and of course runny, smudgey makeup.
This made me think about what my co-workers are doing during this season to stay rain-proof they sang like a canary with their monsoon haul. We don’t gatekeep tips when it comes to looking your absolute best even if the weather isn’t weathering.
Soothing Showers For Gizelle
“I love taking nighttime showers during monsoon to wash off the dampness of this muggy weather, and this orange-ginger body washes with foam offers a soothing end to my otherwise chip-chip day, it’s calming and smells nice. Talking about nice smells, I love spraying this eucalyptus spray in the shower, hot showers + eucalyptus = heaven! It is very therapeutic and relaxing, also, when I’m down with (an inevitable) cold (because rain means cold), I spritz some of it on a kerchief and inhale to unblock my nose.”

Diya-Approved Monsoon Splurge
“My curl type is 2C, and this hair type is extremely susceptible to frizz and damage during the rainy season, I use this conditioner to maintain my curl pattern and keep them intact. This conditioner smoothens out the frizz without losing any moisture or volume. I also have sensitive skin that gets aggravated during monsoon due to the heat and humidity causing excess oil. This cleanser zaps excess sebum and keeps my skin dry yet supple.”

Surabhi’s Smooth Secret
“I have dry hair that gets stubbornly frizzy during monsoon and humidity. That's why I love the Matrix Biolage hair serum. It's been an OG in my hair care routine. I apply it on damp hair and it makes my strands soft and manageable. Also sometimes, when I'm lazy, I'll quickly apply a generous coat of this serum to the lengths as a pre-wash treatment. Sounds strange but it works so well on my dry, frizzy hair! I'm also obsessed with the Swiss Beauty Plump Up Wet Lip Gloss in the shade Deep Desire. It's a glossy, moisturising shade that doesn't give the hassle of obvious smudges during heavy rains.”

Sana’s Monsoon Mane-tenance
“My wavy hair and monsoon humidity are arch enemies. So if I don't take extra care of my hair in the rainy season, I end up with Monica's honeymoon hair. To prevent this unfortunate situation from happening, I use Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector once a week on the ends of my hair, and Dot & Key's Moringa & Argan Hairfall Control Conditioner after each wash. This combination gives me frizz-free, manageable hair.”

Gauravee’s Hydration Therapy
“I have an oily skin type and rainwater, hair, and sweat just sticks to my face all the time. I wash my face three or four times a day and this Re'equil facewash acts as the perfect mild cleanser that cleans the excess oil without stripping away all the hydration, making this cleanser a rain-necessity for me. My intensely curly hair and Bombay monsoon aren't exactly best of friends, so this Arata curl cream just helps me have frizz-free hair even on bad-hair days.”
