Although I love trying out new brands and the latest formulations, the joy of your favourite brand dropping its newest collections and freshest products is unmatched. Don’t get me wrong, discovering a hidden gem of a brand or product is also great, but when cult-classic brands such as Maybelline, Olay, and L'Oréal announce additions to their roster, along with internet-popular brands such as indē wild and Earth Rhythm, I have to set my other tasks aside and get on the bandwagon of exploration.
Working at Nykaa may or may not come with a lot of perks, but getting the opportunity to test all the latest drops is by far the best feeling ever. So, without further ado, let’s get right into it. I tested these products so you can decide if you want them in your festive vanity or not. But since they are all budget-friendly options, I would say they are all a must-try.
Super Stay, But Make It Powder
I don’t know about you, but I have been and always will be a fan of the Maybelline Super Stay Lumi-Matte Foundation. But this is not a review of that. The Maybelline people launched a flex powder that perfectly complements that and people with oily skin. In just a few dabs, it covers the entire face and leaves you completely poreless. It’s sweat, water, and moisture resistant and stays the whole day without any touch-ups. It comes in 8 shades covering all the undertones, and for all my over-expressive baddies, it doesn’t crack at the crevices, so you can emote all day long without the product clumping.
Nectar For Your Lips
Earth Rhythm is another brand that I have liked using over the years. I was first introduced to their sunscreens and lip and cheek tints. They started off as a skincare brand that slowly translated their skin-friendly formulations into makeup, thus offering us hybrid products that finish like makeup and nourish like skincare. These lip nectars are a testament to that. They offer a bold, velvety, matte finish; it’s made with squalene and centella Asiatica that hydrates and protects the lips.
Hot Damn!
Every beauty girlie on the block is a fan of the DLT by indē wild, and when they announce the launch of a spicy, plumping, dewy lip balm, you know I had to get my hands on it. My almost non-existent lips are always on the lookout for naturally formulated plumping glosses that can make my lips look naturally fuller. Made with capsicum extract, menthyl lactate, and plumping peptides, it tingles upon contact without breaking your lip barrier. It offers a subtly spicy, juicy finish with glossy application, high on both heat and hydration.
For My Seasoned Queens
This fast-absorbing, lightweight, non-greasy, non-comedogenic gel cum moisturiser is a great addition for people in their late 30s and 40s. My mom has been an Olay loyalist for years, and she tried this gel too. She swears by the results because it make her skin plumper and appear more hydrated. Even I, in my late 20s, have early signs of ageing, and I tried this for a month and could see a visible improvement in my skin texture and tone. It’s suitable for oily, dry, and normal skin and leaves the skin smooth, glowing, and hydrated.
Boss Like Gloss
Breathe life back into your lacklustre hair with this new L'Oréal Paris Glycolic Gloss Shine Boosting haircare range. It comes with a shampoo for cleansing, a conditioner for nourishment, a gloss acidifier for that extra shine, and an extension serum that locks in the sheen. Made with 3% glycolic acid, this hair care range smoothens hair fibres that make the hair reflect more light for that undeniable radiance.
Parting Thoughts
These products have all been a 10/10 for me, because of the price point, the brand they are from, the advanced and trendy formulation, and the unparalleled results. From the plumping gloss from indē wild to the whole glossy hair care range from L'Oréal, there are so many new additions to my wishlist that I got to try and now are going to be a part of my monthly haul. FAQs
-
Is glycolic acid good for hair?
Yes, glycolic acid is good for hair because it clears sebum build-up, balances the pH, exfoliates the scalp, and adds shine to your hair. It also clears any clogs in your follicles and improves the texture of your hair.
-
Do lip plumping glosses work?
Yes, lip plumping glosses are effective, but their results are temporary. When the product wears off, the tingling sensation goes away, and so does the fuller appearance. A good plumping gloss will use naturally spicy ingredients along with nourishing peptides to protect lip barriers.
-
Why does ageing skin look dull?
As our skin ages, it produces more melanin, and the collagen production reduces. This leads to your skin reflecting less light, making it look duller as you age.
