The hair, the makeup, the outfits, the theatrics- all came to a hilt at Lakme Fashion Week’s Winter edition this year. We saw a myriad of stunning looks from some of the biggest names in fashion. And let’s face it, fashion week is incomplete without Bollywood starlets lighting up the ramp. From veterans like Karisma Kapoor Khan and Neha Dhupia to newbies, like Jahnvi Kapoor to Kiara Alia Advani, the ramp was ablaze with A-listers up the wazoo! LFW has given us plenty trendy, we’re looking to cop for the upcoming festive season.
Here’s a round up of our favourite Lakme Fashion Week makeup trends and the celebrities that adorned them:
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Well, not only did Kareena close this edition of LFW for Monisha Jaisingh, but she also launched her newest makeup line with Lakme. Her look for the show included tousled waves, smouldering eyes and a nude lip. Her grand finale look was iridescent, so she laid off the strobing, but look at that contour! With chiselled cheekbones like those, she could cut glass!
Making her runway debut, Jahnvi Kapoor walked the ramp for Nachiket Barve. With side swept hair to show off her highlighted shoulders, this stunner took the ramp by storm. A trend spotted on multiple runways, glittery lids and understated lips are the name of the game, which this beauty rocked to perfection.
Always a bundle of energy and joy, Jacqueline Fernandez opened and closed the show for Ashish N Soni. Channelling retro vibes, she sported an updo with a deep side part and a vintage side wave, giving us true ‘60s feels. Her makeup was minimal, drawing all eyes to her sculpted bod.
Malaika Arora Khan
We’re convinced that Malaika Arora Khan has cut a deal with the devil, because this beauty refuses to age! With a physique that could put 20-something models to shame, she was the showstopper for Anushree Reddy. She sported chrome nails and brown smokey eyes, with a glossy pout- which were all brought to attention with her hair hanging in loose curls, pulled to one side.
Fearless and bold, Pankaj and Nidhi picked the perfect showstopper for their collection called “After Dark”. Kangana owned the ramp, however, we only had eyes for that dramatic cobalt blue liner. The thick winged liner covered half her lid, while the rest of her face was deeply contoured coupled with a muted lip.
Berry lips and glossy lids- a match made on Punit Balana’s runway and gorgeously embodied by Radhika Apte. Effortlessly chic, her eyes were subtle, but her lashes gave us a dose of va va voom with tonnes of mascara. Her short crop was slicked back as she glided down the runway.
Aditi Rao Hydari
Jayanti Reddy’s muse for her collection called Noor, Aditi Rao Hydari epitomized it, as it translates into “light”. Jayanti Reddy describes the look as “soft glam”, which included a generous dusting of highlight. A middle part with hair pushed back, our focus was drawn to her face, which featured a nude lip and natural brows.
Sporting a soft but detailed eye, Nushrat Bharucha too made her runway debut for SVA Couture. Her look was ethereal, but what really grabbed our eyeballs was her hairdo- tousled and textured waves, interspersed with gorgeous purple baby’s breath.
