Forget old beauty maxims and find your own style
There are no absolutes when it comes to beauty. Every woman is a diva in her own right and its time you threw old beauty rules right out the window and came up with your own style rulebook to live by.

Here are the new beauty tips & tricks for women

Seven beauty rules you should break - 1
  • Rule #1: Play up eyes or lips, never both
  • Sure, heavily made up eyes and bold lips can look vampish, It’s a fine line between ‘just right’ and ‘too much’& The trick is to straddle between the two, using the right mix of colors. Some classy eye lip combos: smoky charcoal grey-berry lip stain, copper peepers-blood red lips, midnight blue eyes-juicy pink lippies and emerald eyes-sparkly coral pout.
Forget the old wife’s tale about pairing smoky eyes with nude lips. That’s applicable only if you’re planning a very heavily pigmented eye look. Otherwise, there’s no reason why you can’t have both, dramatic eyes and a pretty pout, especially for a night out.
  • Rule #2: Your nail polish must match your lipstick
  • The days of matchy-matchy are long gone. It’s a stuffy, old fashioned trend that should be binned. Let your quirky, spirited side shine through. Watch any old Hindi film from the ‘70s or ‘80s and you know how comical matching earrings, lipstick and nails looked. As celeb makeup expert and Nykaa makeup expert Ojas Rajani says, “Colors should be complimentary, not identical. Look classy, not predictable.”Some winning combinations: turquoise blue nails-peachy pink lips, nude lips-coral pink nails, crimson lips-beige nails, and tangerine lips-aqua blue nails.

  • Rule #3: File your nails in one direction only
  • Nails grow and strengthen from the base, not the edges that extend beyond the fingertip that gets filed. Of course, it would be foolish to saw away at your nails with a rough nail file because that would be enough to cause cracks and chips. But generally speaking, filing back and forth doesn’t damage nails. If you think your nails are weak, use a good quality nail file like Roots Nail File Nf1. Take a nail strengthening formula like MuscleXP Biotin Hair, Skin & Nails Complete MultiVitamin and up your intake of calcium rich foods.
  • Rule #4: Don’t tweeze above your eyebrows
  • Thick, almost straight brows have proven just as beautiful on and off the runways for a while. Thick power brows are in right now, but there’s a difference between well shaped and thick, and messy and untidy. The only way to create an arch—and lift—is tweezing below the brow. That doesn’t mean you can leave the top unruly and unkempt. A well tweezed up is vital to give your brows shape. Pluck strays above brow line, but don’t go overboard. Over-plucking or threading aggressively above the brows can flatten them, leaving your without arches. Use a good quality tweezer like Vega Tweezer - Square Tip.

  • Rule #5: Only wear warm or cool colors depending on your skin
  • How many of you can honestly claim you’ve truly figured out which tone you are? Do you really know what that means in in terms of which eye shadow, blush and lipstick hues you should choose? Your skin tone matters less when it comes to choosing eye, nail and lip colors. In fact anything goes! It’s far more important when you’re picking foundation and concealer or choosing a hair color. Forget the hot-cold skin tone dilemma and have fun with color. In fact jewel tones—from smoky quartz to pale citrine—make anyone look glowy. It’s really all about balance. Sticking to just one color undertone can be flat and boring. So if a color appeals to you, just try it on. Plus a little opposing tonality can be nice sometimes, especially when you want to make your eyes pop or brighten up your complexion.
  • Rule #6: Don’t let your roots show
  • If you’re one of those who zealously colors away at the first sighting of telltale roots, stop right there! Having visible roots is actually one of the biggest hair trends today. Subtle darkness near the scalp looks more natural than obsessive touch-ups. In fact, it’s even got a name; “ombré” hair, where the roots are dark but the hair gets lighter and lighter toward the ends. For the past year, two-tone and ombré hairstyles have dominated the runways.

  • Rule #7: Always layer your perfume
  • Using a perfumed body wash, body lotion and then perfume, all in the quest to smell sweet can get over overpowering in the summer heat. It can become an olfactory overkill. Instead of a long-lasting subtle scent you’ll smell more like a decaying flower. To get that chic perfumed air, use just one: perfumed lotion, body washes, hair sprays or fragrance. Fragrance fades too quickly? Upgrade to an eau de parfum from eau de cologne.
