Spring Beauty Trends That I’ve Tried And Documented This Month

Living at a time that can only be described as unusual, how much importance is the average cosmetic enthusiast giving this spring? Well, I am (so that makes the two of us?). From muted lips and gold smears to WFM messy knots and bubblegum pink lipsticks, it’s a rather refreshing list of highly followed trends—I decided to religiously stay more connected with what the market had to offer. I mean. half glass full, right?

Ahead, five beauty trends that I’m going to try this month— looking at you, sunshine eyes.

best concealer and foundation

1. PLEASE BE ON MUTE

Extremely easy to achieve at home, muted skin in three words is a ridiculously flawless base. To master this, you need a good skincare routine. I have been personally seeing a huge difference in my skin's health with a strict regime by Dermalogica. Coming to makeup, picking the right shade of concealer, foundation and loose powder closest to your skin tone is critical. I’d throw in a nude lipstick too. Just make sure you choose your products in natural light before you commit to it.

2. KNOT MY TYPE

It goes without saying that messy WFH knots have become a staple coiffure while we continue to be on autopilot mode every day. However, it’s somewhat comforting to observe how a convenient hairdo (that literally takes ten seconds, TEN) steadily rose to an actual trend this spring. To keep it relevant, I tie my hair into a bun and pull out a couple of strands that start from my ears and I let my bangs fall naturally— after heavily ironing it once, ofcourse (what, Mallu hair). Then again, make sure you use a good serum.

3. HEY, IT’S ALWAYS SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS. OKAY?

Spotted on multiple digital runways this year, pride colors are set to reign supreme a.k.a rainbow eyes. Recreate this colorful trend with a versatile palette powered with colors that you can play with. I recommend that you use a shading brush to blend the colours across your lids  into a soft gradient. Sunshine eyes is another personal favorite I really enjoyed sporting as well. If you’re looking to try it, opt for a product with warm colors such as toasty pinks, oranges and yellows that got us dreaming of a beautiful morning (because moringas are meant to be beautiful, kaay?)

4. YOU LIKE METAL?

You could either go all out and try a full-fledged gold shimmery, metallic smear or you could just target the inner corners of your eyes with sober gold accents. You could also play it up with a dash of gold glitter for an extra lift. Always make sure you partner this trend with a salmon pink lipstick for a day look and you could try a cranberry red for your lips if you have plans in the evening.

5. BUBBLEGUM POP

In this time and age, pink is androgynous, gender fluid and confident. I think we needed this trend to come back without inhibitions; which brings me to getting the right pink lipstick (bubblegum pink to be specific). I’m talking about really bright, happy lips that you could achieve by getting yourself a formula that promises an intense color-payoff. I usually stay away from overwhelming pinks— however this time, I actually loved how I looked and felt. Here’s to new beginnings.
