So, what’s it going to be. Are you going to go the Baywatch ‘big waves don’t care’ route, the Cher inspired poker straight look or a Blondie inspired pixie style? We asked celebrity hair stylist Teresa Chen to predict the biggest hair trends for 2018. So over to you Teresa.
“It’s going to be all about embracing natural, no-fuss textures with fresh, interesting haircuts. Styles that are un-done and effortlessly stylish. Low maintenance, easy bangs, big waves and straight hair with body. Plus, long, relaxed styles and middle parts will make a comeback. As far as colors go, a return to chocolate and all shades of brown, Ombre (dark roots that gradually lighten towards the tips) with a Balayage twist (that blends roots to ends for a multi-dimensional color).”
Here are the biggest hair trends of 2018:
Real Girl Retro
It’s all about real girl beauty and 2018 will continue to get inspired by decades past. “We’ll see a mix of ’70s and ’90s-inspired looks. Healthy, fluffy hair is in. Just wash and condition. Brush it out and let it do what it does--no heat required.” When in doubt just use OGX Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo
that works a marvel on all hair types.
Bangs Are Back
If you’ve always wanted to get them, there’s no better time to. “The center-parted fringe is chic, laid back and flattering for most face shapes,” says Teresa. Side parted shaggy bangs also look great because they have a low maintenance styling and cool-girl feel.
Short hair made a resurgence in 2017, and with effortless chic being the name of the game, fuss-free bobs are popular too. “Not too many layers so it works for fine hair too. I’ve had clients who want to go really shortalmost ear lengthbut I think the chin grazing length is more flattering.” For a modern spin go with a middle part; but a classic side part looks classy too. Plus, its versatile. You can wear it straight, curly, or wavy.
“Nothing beats a well created updo for formal events or just when you want to make an impression,” says Teresa. Sleek and structured updos are beautiful ways of showing off your neck or a gorgeous necklace.
