The wedding season is almost upon us! With all the hustle bustle, it’s easy to let your diet slip away from you. Worry not, we’ve got the perfect three-month bridal fitness countdown that will not just see you flaunting a hot bod but glowing skin and glossy hair as well. We spoke to nutritionist Naini Setalvad on the ideal way to maintain energy levels, lose oodles of weight and get glowing skin.

Here are the diet tips for brides before 3 months of marriage:

3 Months Before

Time to stock up on Beauty Vitamins! Magic pills that promise longer, shinier hair and glowing skin. Don’t know where to start? Your safest bet is taking a Biotin enriched vitamin that reduces hair loss and strengthens nails. Also pop a Vitamin C daily for healthy glowing skin and sparkly eyes. Nykaa recommends INLIFE Hair Skin and Nails, 60 Tablets With 10, 000 mcg Biotin, For Hair Fall and Morpheme Remedies Amla Capsules Vitamin C & Anti Oxidant - 500mg Extract. It’s a good idea to also up your intake of beauty foods like peanuts, almonds, bananas and spinach.

Start a regular fitness regime if you haven’t already. “Exercise tightens the skin, creates muscle tone and stimulates mood enhancers which make us feel good,” says Setalvad. No need to spend moolah on pricey gyms, a brisk daily walk is enough.

Expert Tip: Drink coconut water every day for glowing skin. Also gulp down chia seeds soaked in water before dinner. They’re loaded with nutrients and fill you up so no more dinner binges.

2 Months Before

It’s time to kick your fitness regimen into full gear. Add an extra 30 minutes of gym time every day. Hate running on a treadmill? Take your pick of Bollywood dancing, Zumba or water aerobics, anything that gets your heart racing. “This is also the time to get strict with your diet. No caffeine, alcohol, sugar, dairy or processed foods. Instead load up on high fibre veggies that help circulation and, support skin elasticity. Also don’t forget to drink at least two litres of water every day, more if you sweat a lot.

A sample diet would be a glass of water and a cup of green tea in the morning, two whole-wheat toasts with salad and 10 almonds for breakfast, followed by a bowl of cooked vegetables along with a katori of daal, two medium-sized whole-wheat rotis and a glass of buttermilk for lunch. After a light snack of 30 pistachios and a cup of green tea, end the day with a light dinner consisting of a bowl of vegetable soup and 75 grams of chicken or paneer.
