Are you ready for permanent makeup
Cosmetic procedures for that ‘always made-up’ look
If you’re tired of never getting perfectly shaped eyebrows at your local parlor or are embarrassed by how dark your lips look, permanent makeup may well be the answer. Relatively new in India, permanent makeup is essentially tattooed micro-pigmentation performed by specialists. The professional—not a tattoo artist—draws lip lines or the eyebrow shape you want before colored pigments of mineral or natural origin are deposited on the uppermost layer of the skin. The pigment is injected with disposable fine needles and the results stay for up to two years.
During an eyeliner procedure, first a lash line is drawn to define the shape of the eye. The pigment is implanted close to the lash line. The thickness and color depends on your preference. Similarly, after outlining the desired shape, the color is implanted between existing hairs or to fill in areas of sparse growth to fill out the brow. The color doesn’t wash out on bathing or swimming. The procedure is also used to camouflage bald patches in people suffering from alopecia.
Cosmetic makeup enhancement allows the specialist to implant micro pigments into the lips to define the existing lip line and camouflage scars and other anomalies such as cleft lip and pigmentation near the lips. This procedure can also be used to emphasize the size and fullness of the natural lip line. It shows great results if you have dark lips or where the natural lip color is lost through the normal ageing process.
While the procedure has huge cosmetic promise, giving you the freshly made-up look first thing in the morning even before your wash your face or after a swim, it has great potential for people with debilitating scars and marks caused by illness and injury. It is used to camouflage scars, leucoderma patches, vitiligo, burn injuries and an uneven skin tone. It is effective in hiding scars left after plastic surgery such as face lifts, and in certain instances, micro-pigmentation can effectively be used to reconstruct the nipple/areola after surgery in cases where women have undergone breast reconstruction.
