This Valentine’s makeup makeovers are passé. The trend to try is this versatile haircut that’s taken over red carpets and Instagram - By Parizaad Khan Sethi

Beyoncé, Jennifer Lawrence and Priyanka Chopra have one. So do Selena Gomes and Scarlett Jo. Kerry Washington is a member of the club. BFFs Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss got matching ones, and an assortment of Kardashians have as well.

The entertainment world’s must-have accessory of the moment is a haircut. The long bob, or lob, has been a trending look on red carpets for months, and it’s reached peak popularity.

Unlike most celebrity crazes however, the lob can be acquired by just about anyone. In hairstyling terms, that’s revolutionary in itself. This most democratic of haircuts works on hair of all types, textures and thickness. Is your hair straight and flat? There’s a lob for you. Voluminous waves can have their lob moment, and so can curls. Even better is the fact that lobs work on most face shapes as well. Plus, you can style it in a million different ways. Here are our favourite lob looks.

This style has reached critical mass, but still seems as cool and fresh as it did when it peaked, and celebrities continue to wear it. Spritz a heat protecting product like L'Occitane Heat-Protective Control Mist or Toni&Guy Heat Protection Mist: High Temperature Protection into freshly washed and conditioned hair, and blast it dry with a hairdryer, without using brushes to smoothen. Take small sections of hair and lightly spray them with Toni&Guy Casual: Sea Salt Texturising Spray before wrapping each section around a curling iron. Leave the roots and ends natural, for a contrast in textures. Curl each section in opposite directions. After your hair has cooled, use your fingers or wide toothed comb to open up the curls. If needed, work in some Kiehl's Creative Cream Wax, to increase the separation and texture.

For a sharper, modernist look, style your lob straight. Work in Kiehl's Stylist Series Creme With Silk Groom into damp hair and blow it out straight, finishing with a shine spray.

This bold style is not for everyone, because it’s at its most impressive when you truly embrace the amazing volume that curly hair brings to the party. So instead of trying to ‘tame’ those curls, encourage them to rock out in a powerful, afro-esque way. Apply a curl cream like BBLUNT High Definition Curl, Curl Defining Leave-In Cream to encourage your natural curl pattern. Dry your hair using a blow-dryer fitted with a diffuser attachment, to retain the curls. To get more volume, flip your head over while drying the roots. If any sections of hair have become frizzy, smoothen them by going over those with a curling iron.
