Contrast cool blues with lashes and lids draped in a psychedelic haze of colour -By Parizaad Khan Sethi
We’re joining forces with the stylish folk at Le Mill to bring you a series of blogs, where beauty and fashion come
together to offer plenty of summer inspiration!
It’s going to be one long, hot summer, and we’ve found the best way to get through it. The beauty world is currently celebrating the
frenzied clash of psychedelic lids and lashes, while fashion, like most of us besotted by all things Canadian, is dusting out the
Canadian tuxedo – that’s denim on denim, for the uninitiated. So, we’ve been spending our days in melt-proof, bright coloured mascaras
and eyeliner, and offsetting that with some cool denim ensembles.
Coloured mascaras were written off as clownish or just wackadoodle, but this summer they’ve reached full blown fashion status. We’ve been
stocking up on the eye-popping In Extreme Dimension Mascara shades from
M.A.C’s Work It Out collection, and pairing them with matching
or contrasting swatches of eyeliner using the Chromagraphic Pencils.
Denim itself got a do-over this summer. Push your plain basics to the back of the closet, and make room for blues with arresting details.
Stella McCartney went the playful route with daintily embroidered numbers. Cult favourite Sacai’s constructions grew ever more unique,
with nips and tucks that flattered the female form—subtle frills, flares and what have you. If you decide to double the fun by pairing
these easy separates from Le Mill, let your beauty look contrast the icy blues with crazy colours.

We love how Balmain deconstructed the workman’s favourite and gave it a glamorous twist—splicing tweed and denim in a shift dress was particularly genius.

Saint Laurent toughened up jeans with leather inserts, and gave us vintage jackets with patchwork details.
