Put your full-coverage foundations and heavy eyeshadow on pause. It’s time to loosen up and make room for some laid-back beauty looks - By Parizaad Khan Sethi

Summer brings so much joy—mangoes, tans and beach holidays. But it also brings with it a massive downsizing of beauty kits, which can be a bummer. Full-coverage foundation? No chance. A mega-watt smokey eye with fake lashes? You’ve got to be kidding.

This season, however, we’re not as reluctant to pack up our full kits. Summer comes at the same time as a worldwide shift towards clean, minimal beauty, and here’s how we’re dialing down our makeup routines.

Sheer out
Can’t bear the feel of moisturizer and sunscreen followed by foundation when it’s a billion degrees outside? Swap your regular products for a tinted moisturizer which will give you the hydration you need, plus sun protection as well as some coverage. We turn to Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 and theBalm BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer SPF18 to even out the complexion and keep skin sheltered. Beauty PSA: To get the full protection of the SPF number mentioned on the bottle, you have to use a quarter teaspoon of product for your face alone. So, on days when you’re going to be outdoors and fully exposed to the sun, consider using a ¼ teaspoon of tinted sunscreen like Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense SPF 50 .
Simplify
If there ever was a time to stop contouring, this is it. Swap out your contour and highlight set for a bronzer like Smashbox Halo Warm Bronze Lights, to bring warmth and life to the skin. Sweep a fluffy brush loaded with bronzer on the high planes of your face (cheekbones, temples, Cupid’s bow) and brush some on the bridge of the nose for an authentically sun-kissed glow.
Multi-way
