It can be caused due to many reasons sun exposure, genes, if you have some hormone ups down, lack of hydrationthere are many remedies 

1: apply any prefered ubtan homemade or anything from forest essential will do good use it once or twice a week on face and gently scrub it not too hard or else too much scrubing can cause more darkness

2:use a good rose water it helps as a daily mist to sooth the area and lighten it naturally

5:use a good sunblock( spf50)with zinc oxide preferably because it's suitable for sensitive skin and physically cover your face it's the best way
