Make sure you prep your skin before foundation application. Moisturising your skin helps foundation go smoother. Apply a primer according to your skin needs i.e you can use a pore filling primer if you have open pores. Primer helps your makeup stay longer and creates a base for your foundation. When your skincare is good, your makeup will also look good and flawless so don't forget to invest time into prepping your skin.

Next, apply the correct shade of foundation according to your undertone. You can know your undertone by looking at the veins in your wrist. If your veins are greenish then you have a warm undertone and if blueish then you're a cooler undertone and if you're both, then  neutral. You can also know your undertone by seeing which jewellery suits you better - gold or silver. If gold, then warm undertone and if silver, then cool. Best way to check your shade of foundation is to swatch across your jawline and cheek so go to your nearest makeup  counter and then move around for atleast 2 hours to see if it has blended or oxidised.

To lock your foundation in, you can dust some loose powder or compact powder after foundation application (only for oily skin beauties) to prevent sweating and transferring.

Your skin tone is different from your undertone. It&rsquo;s the shade of your skin (light, medium, or dark). And finally, look for the right formula for your skin type which could be normal, dry or oily. For oily skin, foundations are usually the mattifying one and control oil secretion.
