Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is a scented Indian grass that reaches heights of up to 1.5m/3 ft. Fresh and sharp with a lemony fizz, the aroma of lemongrass oil is instantly energizing. In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, the grass is used to help to lower fevers and calm the nervous system. Traditional Chinese Medicine recommends Lemongrass oil to ease stomach pains, and also to relieve headaches, colds and rheumatism. Lemongrass and its essential oil have a strong, lemony scent, they are both also used to keep stinging insects at bay. Lemongrass is non-toxic. The essential oil cuts through any emotional fog and helps see things clearly. This oil relieves depression and encourages positivity.
Inhaling 1 drop of Lemongrass oil placed on a tissue clears mental clutter and improve powers of concentration. To chase away bad dreams or insomnia vaporizing 2 drops Lemongrass with 2 drops lavender in an electric vaporizer while sleeping helps. To ease muscular aches, muscle spasm or physical tension, a mix of Lemongrass with Ginger and Lavender in a carrier oil should be rubbed into the affected areas. A mix of Lemongrass with Coriander Seed and Mandarin in a carrier oil soothes indigestion or helps to relieve constipation. This mix should be applied twice a day using clockwise abdominal massage.
