Move over ombré strands, ombre lips are here! It’s the latest two-tone look to subtly contour your pout for greater oomph and pizzazz. The perfect camouflage for thin lipped girls! Now it’s easier than ever to add dimension and play up the contours of your mouth. The only trick to keep in mind, keep it all in the same color family; try a deep orangey red that fades into tangerine, or a magenta that blends into rosy pink. The darker shade around the corners add definition, while the softer tones at the center reflect light to give you a luscious, juicier smile.
What you need to master the ombré look:
- Nude pink lip liner: Pick Colorbar Lip Liner (Shade Nude Pink)
- Neon Pink lipstick: Colorbar Take Me As I M Lipstick (Shade Flirtatious Pink)
- Magenta lipstick: Nykaa Paintstix - Bombshell Berry 09
- Stick concealer: IsaDora Treat & Cover Concealer Stick
- Natural pink lip gloss: L'Oreal Paris Glam Shine Gloss 6 Hr (Shade Always Pink)
A step-by-step guide to ombré lips
Step 1: Start by lining your lips with a nude pink lip liner closest to your natural lip color. I used Colorbar Lip Liner, Shade Nude Pink for this step.
Step 2: Fill your entire lip with the nude pink liner after lining the lips. This will act as a base and prolong the wear of your lip color. It will also even out pigmentation if any and create a smooth canvas for the ombré effect.
Step 3: Apply a neon pink lipstick to the outer half of your lips as shown. Opt for a pigmented, satin or matte finish lipstick for best results. I picked Colorbar Take Me As I M Lipstick in Shade Flirtatious Pink for this step. Make sure to leave the center of the lips bare.
Step 4: Now using a small lip brush, blend the neon pink color towards the center of the lips creating a smooth gradient as shown
Step 5: Apply a magenta lipstick to the outer one third of the lips as shown. I used Nykaa Paintstix - Bombshell Berry 09 for this look.
Step 6: To get a pale highlight in the center of the lips, use a pale nude lipstick or a stick concealer. Dab it in the center as shown. I used IsaDora Treat & Cover Concealer Stick for this step.
Step 7-8: Using a small lip brush, blend the nude color with the pink on the outer edges to create a gradient or ombré effect. Voila! We’re nearly done!
Finish up by applying some natural pink lip gloss to the center of your lips. I used L'Oreal Paris Glam Shine Gloss 6 Hr, Shade Always Pink for this step.
Pair these statement lips
The best way to pair this eye catching pout is with a neutral eyes and rosy cheeks.
Eye makeup: Apply a wash of bronze eye shadow Makeup Obsession Eyeshadow - E125 Starstruck all over the lid. Line the eyes neatly with black gel liner creating a small wing at the outer corner. Finish the look with two coats of volumizing mascara to get fluttery lashes.
Face: Even out your skin tone with your favourite foundation, concealing areas of pigmentation and set everything with pressed powder. Apply a warm pink blush on the cheeks that coordinates well with the pink lips. My picks: Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Blush Duos, Shade Pink Blush or NYX Professional Makeup High Definition Blush.
